The PlayStation 3 version of the revamped MMO Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be hitting shelves this coming August, Square Enix has announced. The publisher has also announced pre-order bonuses and a Collector's Edition.

PlanetSide 2 updates to GU09, begins trialing new map system

The latest major tune-up of SOE's PlanetSide 2 is GU09 and it addresses the map system, which replaces the Hex-based conquest pathing with a series of 'Lattice Link' avenues of attack, helping control the chaos.

It means that installations now need to be hardlined into each other, and can't go 'wireless'. It's designed to make the battle flow simpler to follow, and not leave us scratching our heads.

Carbine detail Scientist and Settler paths in WildStar MMO

The remaining two character paths for WildStar have been given the video treatment by developer Carbine. The Scientist and Settler paths joins the Explorer and Soldier as they're finally exposed in more detail.

The first video is a narration by the developers, whilst the second is a tongue-in-cheek animation explaining the perils awaiting new adventurers in WildStar. Just make a movie already!

Funcom begin monster event in Age of Conan: Unchained May 23rd

Age of Conan is celebrating its 5th anniversary with a wave of huge monsters terrorising the MMO world of Hyboria. Beginning tomorrow at 4.00pm CET/10.00am EST there'll be huge boss monsters for five days.

Great rewards are teased for those strong enough to take them down. Funcom are also doubling up XP boosts and Bonus Points to spend in-game, and Access Passes to the Khitai region.

World of Tanks update 8.6 a "major step" in game balancing

Wargaming.net is revamping artillery in their 8.6 update for World of Tanks as the studio looks to make advancing through that class "more comfortable for players." It'll have a "normal ten tier structure" to follow.

That means that tier 8 SPGs are bumped up to tier X, while the newly introduced SPGs will fill in the space left in the middle tiers. A new British tank is also being added.

NCSoft and ArenaNet permanently drop Guild Wars 2 price

The MMORPG Guild Wars 2 is from now on a bit cheaper as NCSoft and developer ArenaNet has snipped the price tag down, which came into effect yesterday. The standard edition now costs $50 / £34.99.

The Digital Deluxe is lowered to $70 / £49.99. They decided to permanently lower the price to lure in more players as ArenaNet keeps releasing new episodic content.

Sony Online plans to turn original PlanetSide free-to-play

A blast from the past as John Smedley from Sony Online Entertainment reveals they've got things in motion to turn 2003's PlanetSide into a free-to-play MMO after all these years.

Right now players of PlanetSide 2 will be getting 6 months of free playtime for the original PlanetSide through a promotion, but eventually it will be adopting the F2P model entirely much like its successor.

Blizzard has announced that the 5.3 update for World of Warcraft, "Escalation", is now live. Along with the usual class tweaks (or nerfs, as most WoW players will complain), the update adds four new Scenarios each with a new Heroic mode, and Heroic modes for 2 existing scenarios.

Gazillion has released the first of four cartoons in a "Chronicles of Doom" series in anticipation for the launch of their free-to-play MMO, Marvel Heroes, on the 4th June. The animated films are written by Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis.

The latest update to World of Warcraft is this week with Patch 5.3. It tweaks a number of things as well as adding all-new stuff like Heroic Scenarios and a continuation of the legendary quest line.

There are also several new mounts like the Enchanted Fey Dragon. Four new scenarios, a new battleground and a new arena await in 5.3. Pandaria now levels up all mining and herbalism.

The addition of the Romulus race is almost upon the Star Trek Online community as Perfect World begins pre-patching through the MMO's launcher. The next expansion officially releases May 21st.

It lets you create Romulan characters in all-new story-driven missions. This also adds Warbird Class starships to captain. There are also new improved traits and an improved UI.

Carbine Studios' WildStar has had a "very successful" first closed beta phase according to the studio, and now it enters a second one. This however "focusses solely" on the second faction within the game.

That means new zones, dungeons Battlegrounds and other stuff. Closed beta invites are no longer region-locked, courtesy of feedback from non-US beta testers. Hooray for globalisation!

Free-to-play MMO studio Wargaming.net is tuning up and spit polishing those tanks ready for a right rumble to mark the 15 years they've been in business. They'll follow a 7 vs. 7 tournament format, common to eSports.

For those adventuring in Star Wars: The Old Republic it just suddenly got a lot more diverse. The 2.1 update is now live meaning you can adopt a feline disposition with new Cathar race options.

However it goes beyond just turning furball, because update 2.1 lets you alter your characters' physical appearance, hairstyles, colour, or even species - now that's a makeover.
