Piranha Games revise Transverse goals, lock-down Reddit in 'temporary emergency'

Since the announcement of Piranha Games' Transverse, there hasn't exactly been the kind of reception they'd hoped for. Instead a significant backlash struck the studio with a Sub-Reddit purge.

Currently the /r/Transverse channel is in lock-down as a 'temporary emergency measure', because of "some extreme clone account" drama. Piranha has also revised down Transverse goals.

World of Warcraft's 10th Anniversary celebration begins November 21st

Blizzard has spilled more details about their up and coming 10th Anniversary for World of Warcraft, with the festivities set to kick off November 21st and run until January 6th, 2015.

Anyone logging in during this time will get themselves an "incredibly cuddly, feisty, and fiery" new Molten Corgi pet. There are also special events planned, with Molten Core set to be re-raided.

City State Entertainment "deeply sorry" as they delay Camelot Unchained alpha

The Kickstarted MMO project Camelot Unchained, which was due to begin alpha testing last month, has been pushed back all the way into February 2015. The developers says there's "no sugar-coating it".

The alpha testing for the MMO is tardy, and the team are "deeply sorry" for the situation. They explain how the estimated timeframes for the alpha have been so delayed.

Nosgoth Free Open Beta Weekend from 7th until 11th August via Steam

Square Enix are going to offer a free Open Beta weekend for Nosgoth, giving all gamers a chance to try out the team-based player-versus-player game pitting together a variety of brutal Human and Vampire characters in a fight for survival.

The free period will last for four days, from 7th until 11th August. Exclusive rewards will be offered to everyone that takes part.

Cross-platform update for War Thunder due in "immediate future"

Gaijin Entertainment will release an update soon for free-to-play MMO War Thunder that will enable cross-platform play between PC and PlayStation 4. The Ground Forces expansion is due June 5th on PS4.

There's no specific date for this major update but Gaijin did say its due in the "immediate future", and Thursday next week sounds rather immediate and futuristic enough.

Sony: Content consumed 'too fast' in MMOs, player generated content is future

Sony Online Entertainment's Clint Worley says the biggest threat to MMOs is just how fast players consume new content, and how their voracious appetite leads them to go elsewhere for the next meal.

Developers end up "chasing our tail," he said. They spend all those resources on new content only for it to be digested so quickly. The future is letting players create the content.

First major update to The Elder Scrolls Online due this week

Zenimax has confirmed the first major update for their newly launched MMO The Elder Scrolls Online will be arriving this week, tomorrow or Friday. It features the new Craglorn Adventure Zone with new story and quests.

It offers four-player quests for groups and the new twelve-player Trials. Testing for the update is now wrapping up and Zenimax plan updates every four-to-six weeks.

An alleged insider to Ubisoft Massive's development of Tom Clancy's The Division is not convinced it will make the current autumn 2015 release window, as they "don't have a functioning game" at this stage.

In fact they're having "massive problems" with the multiplayer side of things. The original 2014 date announced by Ubisoft was a 'punch in the face' to the studio, they continued.

War Thunder: Ground Forces "available for all" in open beta

Swap your wings for a pair of treads in War Thunder as the Ground Forces expansion is now available to every single pilot as it moves into open beta. Update 1.41 marks the invasion of armoured tanks in the MMO.

There are also new planes in the hangar for those who prefer their feet off the ground. Currently USSR and German armour roam the battlefield, with a new video highlighting update 1.41.

There'll be no post-outbreak survival in New York City this year as Tom Clancy's The Division has been pushed into 2015 by Ubisoft. The three studios "don't want to compromise on quality" by releasing this year.

It's another multi-studio effort but just by three developers this time with Ubisoft Massive leading. Ubisoft Reflections and Red Storm Entertainment are lending their expertise.

Carbine reveal 'hardcore raids' in new WildStar DevSpeak video

The battle system in WildStar uses combat telegraphs which means you have to use skill when fighting enemies, but also when defending yourself, and so that's partly why raids in WildStar are "randomised chaos".

20 to 40 players can participate in raids full of insanity with legions of mini-bosses and epic major boss battles, with even the levels themselves trying to kill you just for laughs.

'Festival of Four Winds' event for Guild Wars 2 marks MMO's China launch

ArenaNet has used their event in Beijing to announce a new global update for Guild Wars 2 called 'Festival of Four Winds', which will mark the the MMO's May 15th launch in China.

The event arrives May 20th and a new trailer is out. It will be Guild Wars 2's first "truly global game update." It will be subscription-free in China, once purchased.

The open world post-zombie-apcolaypse survivor Human Element from Robotoki, founded by Robert Bowling, will be coming to PC first in late 2015. It's powered by Cyrtek's CryEngine and is built as an MMO.

It's a first-person game that "challenges players to rebuild society" decades after the world fell to the zombie hordes. The world is said to 'evolve' based on player actions.

CCP Games' Worlds Within a World monument defaced, pursuing legal action

The 16ft Worlds Within a World sculpture that was erected in Reykjavik, Iceland last week has been the target of vandalism, with EVE Online developer CCP Games calling it an "insult to the entire community".

EVE Online user Xenuria had their name defaced. CCP regard the incident as "absolutely disgusting," and now threaten action within the community "along with any legal action".

WildStar open beta scheduled May 8th, 10 days with level capped at 30

Carbine's WildStar MMO will be welcoming everyone for an open beta period this May 8th. Keys will be given to anyone who signs up during the 10 days of the event, while closed testers can just login.

Content up to level 30 will be available to open beta tesers. Carbine tease new abilities, tier points and areas and modes once you reach the new beta cap.

The Nar Shaddaa Sky Palace is the first Player Stronghold in Star Wars: The Old Republic to be featured in a new Galactic Living series of videos from BioWare. These homes are featured in Galactic Strongholds.

The free digital expansion is due out this August. BioWare tease that we'll be able to expand our floating Sky Palace on Nar Shaddaa, and decorate them how we please.

ZeniMax issue 5 days game time for Elder Scrolls Online subscribers

Director Matt Firor for The Elder Scrolls Online has announced ZeniMax Online will be issuing 5 additional days game time to all subscribers who are registered before 8.00pm EDT / 1.00am BST today.

This is to "recognise that some of the launch issues affected" the early experience of the MMO, cutting into the 30 days trial period. Firor also outlines what changes are ahead.

A new patch for The Elder Scrolls Online has been released by developer Zenimax Online Studios and it tackles more quest related issues and blocks, as well as improving the game's stability and performance.

Another area of focus are the legions of bots farming the MMO and gold spammers. TESO has been under siege by 'black market' activity, as they account for over 80% of support tickets.

The state of Tamriel isn't quite as rosy as Zenimax Online would like as The Elder Scrolls Online is under siege from gold-farming bots, and plagued with exploits.

According to director Matt Firor over 85% of support tickets are related to 'black market' offences and bots are widely stalking bosses for loot in open dungeons. They have a "daily running battle" with them.
