Unfortunately it didn't work out that way. After realising that there's just not the same level of interest in the project as there was in their previous hit, Uber has cancelled its Kickstarter campaign.

Steampunk colony management game Clockwork Empires has got a new update, the excellently named 'Midnight Defense at Skullswamp Arsena'l. Or, less thrillingly, version 32.

Despite that fruity moniker, there's not actually any new missions or indeed any midnight defending at arsenals near Skullswamp. Instead there's a lengthy list of new fixes, tweaks and additions.

The Evil Within proves that invulnerability isn't always a good thing; while initiating God mode through the game's console renders you impervious to harm, it doesn't stop you from losing your head.

And I mean that literally. Watch Youtuber GamebillStudio's video to see what happens when rapidly rotating blade meets allegedly impervious flesh.

2Dark is a charming, retro game about... stopping children being butchered by serial killers. Oh. It's being developed by French team Gloomywood, who have released a new developer diary talking us through the concept.

It's presented by programmers Frederick Raynal and Thierry Platon, who have some history in this genre; they were part of the team behind 1992 classic Alone in the Dark, the game which kick-started the survival horror craze of the late 90s.

Making a tactical action game set at sea isn't easy. Have you ever seen the sea? It's boring, just a big flat, blue pond with nothing on it. Which is why developer Wargaming's had to think carefully about how to liven up their naval warfare MMO World of Warships.

"One of the reasons why the game has taken so long in development is actually balancing that - it's incredibly complex, because the sea is an open space,"
Wargaming's head of publishing Mike Federov told Strategy Informer in a recent interview.

You may remember Cassandra the Seeker from Dragon Age 2, in which she spent the majority of her time getting annoyed at rogueish dwarf Varric's tall tales in a between-chapter plot framing device.

There's no more such narrative trickiness this time around; Cassandra is hitting the road with the Inquisitor and his/her band of misfits in Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Bioware has released an interview video with voice actress Miranda Raison discussing what's in store for the no-nonsense warrior.

We've all wondered it when whiling away the hours in games that cast us as superhero space marines or badass wizards - why isn't there a game in which we can play as a piece of bread?

No, I'm not losing it. Surgeon Simulator developer Bossa Studios' latest title is I Am Bread, which chronicles one humble slice of white's attempts to get itself lightly toasted.

The game might be a couple of weeks away, but that hasn't stopped Activision from also releasing a 'launch' trailer for the near future shooter. Rock soundtrack? Check. Soldier chaps shouting 'HOO RAH'? Check. Kevin Spacey hamming it up like a pro? Check and check.

There's a pretty hefty new update out for Wasteland 2. Summarising every aspect of it would take me three or four years, but one key change to note is a large amount of memory optimisations which should improve performance on lower-spec machines.

InXile has also added a faster travel option for the world map. Now they add it. After I've spent forty hours or so trudging about the desert at roughly the same speed as a sloth with a sprained ankle, they add it now.

Worlds of Magic has been on Steam Early Access for a month now, and it's just received its first major content update, adding a new race, new heroes to lead your armies and a new crafting system.

The new Orc race is good at pretty much what you'd expect Orcs to be good at - destroying and conquering. Developer Wastelands Interactive describes them as the "perfect faction for early game expansion."

Galactic Civilizations 3's Beta 2 version is now live, letting you chat to aliens instead of blasting them out of existence with your super-heavy plasma cannons. That's progress, people.

Yes, the latest update finally adds diplomacy, and also marks the return of the Krynn, an alien race that specialises in espionage and diplomacy. Fittingly enough.
