Publisher Square Enix has enjoyed a major profit boom thanks all to the stellar work of Final Fantasy XIII and Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Dragon Quest IX and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days helped out too. Net income was $87.2m for the 9 months ending December 31st.

Michael de Plater worked on EndWar at Ubi Shanghai, but now the Ubisoft executive reveals the EndWar 2 RTS project has been shelved.

Previously de Plater said they'd concentrate more on singleplayer, to make the sequel "a lot of fun," and changing how the "combat chain works".

BioWare reiterates the "long-term" for Dragon Age and Mass Effect

Ray Muzyka of BioWare, that's Dr. Muzyka, has reaffirmed how committed they are to Dragon Age and Mass Effect with "dedicated investment".

BioWare have "stand alone products, expansion packs" in mind for their "long-term plans" for both new IPs. New gear DLC launched recently.

Studio founder Dylan Cuthbert says Q-Games are busy with a PixelJunk Shooter sequel, one with "a ton of ideas" on the drawing board for.

The game engine has "lots of potential" they want to explore, and it'd be a waste not to "try out more stuff." There'll be all new ship suits.

Losses down for EA Q3 but full-year guidance, shares take a knock

Publisher EA has managed to really slice up losses during Q3, reducing the company deficit from $641m to $82m, but guidance has lowered.

Losses may have tumbled but so did Q3's net revenue, down from 2008's $1.654bn to $1.243bn. Full-year revenue has dipped below $4.07bn.

EA promise "something far-reaching" from Mass Effect in early 2011

Developer BioWare has some big Mass Effect thingy planned for early 2011 tease EA, so keep watch between January 1st and March 31st.

Could this be Mass Effect 3 already? Casey Hudson said they wanted a "fairly short turnaround" for the final piece of the trilogy.

Dead Space 2 drops PC, for console and handheld says EA report

EA's Q3 fiscal 2010 paperwork has Dead Space 2 down for Q4 fiscal 2011, but it's not coming to PC, just consoles and handheld only.

This could mean a PC version will arrive in fiscal 2012, or that EA has decided to abandon the PC version. It retails January-March 2011.

Ubisoft aren't ready to reveal Ghost Recon: Future Soldier platforms yet

Ubisoft announced Ghost Recon: Future Soldier this morning, with the Xbox 360 being the only platform confirmed. When we asked Ubisoft about PS3 or PC versions, the firm told us that it won't be revealing the platforms just yet as we'll have to wait for more announcements.

"We aren't communicating the formats just yet, you will have to wait for further announcements in the coming months." said a spokesperson.

Moore watching PS3 'Arc' "with great interest," not sure on OnLive

EA Sports' Peter Moore isn't sure what to make of OnLive, and while he praises"breakthrough experiences", he doesn't want one platform.

As for PlayStation 3's motion controller, 'Arc', he's "seen the technology working" and it's going to be a "great complement" with Sony.

Survey: Dead Space Extraction, Planet Cracker for XBLA and PSN

A recent survey reveals plans to bring Dead Space Extraction to Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, as part of a pre-order plan.

It would be the same "guided" FPS but in "full HD." Planet Cracker meanwhile is all new, and a "resource strategy game" for Dead Space 2.

Square Enix trademark 'Deus Ex: Human Revolution', 3 is subtitled?

Eidos Montreal remains busy working on Deus Ex 3 but it may have gotten a new name if Square's latest trademark is anything to go by.

The third instalment is a prequel to events in the original Deus Ex game. Square Enix are publishing and producing all CG cinematics.

Dragon Age: Origins and Left 4 Dead 2 both shift 3m copies say EA

Publisher EA revealed that BioWare's Dragon Age: Origins sold 2.7 million copies in the December 2009 quarter, during their Q3 fiscal.

Valve's Left 4 Dead 2 has sold 2.9 million since its November launch, with Dragon Age now at 3.2 million. It's a "tremendous start" for new IP.

Ubisoft announces Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for Xbox 360

Ubisoft has revealed that this week's big announcement is Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, a new game in the popular tactical FPS series.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is being developed by Ubisoft's French studios, and will be released for the Xbox 360 at the end of 2010.

LucasArts announces LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars

LucasArts and TT Games today announced the development of LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii PSP and DS.

It should release sometime in Autumn 2010 for all platforms.

Aymeric Evennou of Ubi has teased the publisher will make some big kind of unveiling this week, with Kimi Matsuzaki echoing excitement.

Matsuzaki is based in the US, with Sinister Games, whom 'consolidated' with Red Storm - the guys behind many Ghost Recon titles.

Modern Warfare 2's Care Package Patch is in certification for 360

Infinity Ward has told fans that the Care Package Patch has "entered Microsoft certification" for Xbox 360's Modern Warfare 2 - "no ETA" yet.

One such fix that comes with the title update is the "infinite care package" exploit, as well as "various XP hacks." Shouldn't be long from Live.

Gran Turismo franchise has sold over 55m copies, show Polyphony

Developer Polyphony Digital has released figures for Gran Turismo titles revealing their sales numbers to the world. They total 55,450,000.

Gran Turismo 4 cleared almost 11m copies with Gran Turismo PSP at 1.8m. Gran Turismo, that old dog, moved a whopping 10.8m. Not bad eh?

Mass Effect 2 keeps hold of UK chart top, Dante's Inferno in at four

BioWare's Mass Effect 2 is proving a heavy hitter as it keeps the UK chart top spot, fending off Ubi's Just Dance and Acti's Modern Warfare 2.

EA's latest release, Dante's Inferno, enters the chart at number 4. Atari's Star Trek Online has missed the top ten club, reaching number 11.
