Funcom lands quarter of a million grant, will aid Snowboard game

Age of Conan developer Funcom has been granted $260k from the Norsk Film Institutt, to help in the development of a Snowboarding game.

It's the Norwegian government's digital arts division, and they're supporting Funcom's 'On The Edge Of The World'; a free-to-play onliner.

EA announces new DLC Pack for Fight Night Round 4

Electronic Arts announced today that it will be releasing new Downloadable Content for Fight Night Round 4 in early December for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The DLC pack will cost 800 MS Points and £9.99 on the PlayStation Network.

The DLC will add Bernard Hopkins, Sonny Liston and Evander Holyfield as playable boxers, while including two new game modes. The first, Old School Rules brings a new take to the traditional boxing experience, while the second, Ring Rivalries, allows you to re-create some of the greatest match ups in boxing history.

Zen unveil "true-to-life" miniature golf with Planet Minigolf for PSN

Developer Zen Studios has announced their latest PSN title to be 'Planet Minigolf', where players can swing their clubs in pursuit of realistic mini golf, thanks to pinball expertise.

Their "battle-tested ball-physics" from their ZEN Pinball series has helped create Planet Minigolf. The PSN title has up to "144 unique holes" packed with various "unusual hazards".

EA Sports' Madden NFL Arcade this December, for XBLA and PSN

The NFL rulebook has been edited with crayon as EA Tiburon, the team behind Madden NFL 10, got bored with all those pitch regulations and so bring fans arcade mayhem.

In this 5-a-side and visually distinctive NFL game, players don't have field goals or even penalties to consider. Game Changers have also been added, which mess with opponents.

EA Sports' FIFA 10 sells 1.7m its first week, team "incredibly proud"

The latest entry in the FIFA series from EA has become the fastest-selling sports game so far. It cleared 1.7 million copies its opening week, and has scored high with most critics.

Over 10 million online matches have been played since launch, with over 155,000 users connected simultaneously at peak times. Fans show "just how much they love this game."

Pro Evo to work with motion control in the future

Future instalments of Pro Evolution Soccer could work with new motion control technology, such as the PS3's wand and Microsoft's Project Natal.

This is according to series creator Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, who spoke to IGN about the matter.

Bust a Move, Football Genius and Military Madness on XBLA soon

This week the Xbox Live Arcade will have three new gems in its vault. Taito's Bust a Move, I-Imagine's Football Genius and Backbone's Military Madness are on their way.

Each of the XBLA titles will be up for 800 Microsoft Points. Military Madness: Nectaris is a remake of the original game back in the day, that day being in 1989 on the TurboGrafx-16.

EA finally add Dutch national team to FIFA with full likeness and kit

The upcoming FIFA 10 will have the Dutch national football team in all their actual glory this year, something that past titles have missed out on and had to fictionalize.

A deal has been struck which gets the official football players into the game, something that rival PES had accomplished a while back. Well done EA, the Netherlands is no longer fictional.

EA Sports' Peter Moore announced the delay for Grand Slam Tennis on Xbox 360 and PS3 when the Wii version shipped with MotionPlus support. It "ruined" standard pads.

Now Grand Slam Tennis shall continue to wait for Natal and Sony's motion controller "to come out." EA Sports Active has also played a part in the decision to hold off the tennis match.

Riccitiello: Madden sales 'discourage', platform prices 'encourage'

EA CEO John Riccitiello has said he's 'discouraged' to see their latest Madden effort, their "highest-rated and best-marketed" yet, suffer a slow sales start. It's peddled 1.7m units.

The EA boss says it's "encouraging" that the platform holders Sony and Microsoft have price snipped, as "greater" console sales "historically translated to stronger" videogame sales.

EA Sports boss Peter Moore has revealed they've parked up NASCAR in favour of the new mixed martial arts franchise they started. Need for Speed to fill the void?

Moore "thoroughly enjoyed" the relationship with NASCAR when he first arrived, but EA Sports MMA looks too good to pass up. EA "had to redeploy" the racer devs to the MMA project.

The creepy shooter from Monolith and brawny boxer from EA Canada are releasing some new demos to entice, with F.E.A.R. 2 giving away free samples of 'Reborn' DLC.

Fight Night Round 4 has been tweaked, it's control scheme has changed enough that EA Sports has decided to release a new demo. They're on Xbox Live now, later on PSN.

FIFA 10 Demo releases on 10th September

EA has confirmed that a playable demo for FIFA 10 will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 10th in Europe and September 17th in North America.

The teams playable in the demo are Barcelona, Munich, Juventus, Chelsea, Bayern, Marseille and Chicago Fire. Exhibition match is available, but for the first time players will be able to upload their videos to EA's Football World.

THQ announced today that it will publish Blood Bowl in the UK.

Activison Blizzard today confirmed that Tony Hawk: RIDE will be available in Germany and UK on November 20th, with North America getting it slightly earlier on 17th November.

Tony Hawk: RIDE features a wireless skateboard controller designed in conjunction with the game to offer a dynamic gaming experience built from the ground up. Using a combination of accelerometers and motion sensors, the intuitive controller allows players to physically control the action by performing various movements and gestures on the board that directly translate into amazing tricks in the game. Eidos announced today that Championship Manager 2010 will be released on Games for Windows across Europe from 11th September 2009.

There will also be a demo released on 14th August.

EA Sports confirmed today that FIFA 10 will be available to purchase from stores worldwide on October 2nd for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, PS2, Nintendo DS and PSP.

We already had this down for 2nd October, but just to reconfirm.
