Focus Home date Wargame: AirLand Battle's release May 31st. They also tease the Dynamic Campaign at the heart of the strategy game, which is a follow-up to European Escalation.

Battle groups are dispatched via a theatre map, where you can jump in for real-time conflict. Units are "persistent all along the campaign" and yes, the campaign supports multiplayer.

Total War: Rome II "fastest pre-ordered" in series, "six times" greater than Shogun 2

SEGA has revealed a most pleasing statistic for Total War fans - proving the franchise is stronger than ever. Total War: Rome II is the "fastest" for pre-orders in the entire series history, easily besting Shogun 2.

In fact Rome II tallied "six times" the pre-orders its first official week than Shogun 2 managed. SEGA also boast of good pre-order levels for the "exclusive and highly-limited" Collector's Edition.

Waystone Games, a splinter group formed from Visceral Games, has got its first title and it's called Dawngate. It turns out that it's a MOBA, and so will be EA's first dip of the toe into such waters.

It's built from scratch to "look and feel familiar" and so shouldn't freak out MOBA fans. From their wording it seems Dawngate will feature heavy customisation and an 'evolving story'?

War for the Overworld's Bedrock Beta now available on Steam

Subterranean Games' Dungeon Keeper-styled War for the Overworld has finally achieved release of its Bedrock Beta for Kickstarter backers and for those who pre-order. The beta is a Steam-only launch.

The full game will also be releasing outside Steam with no DRM, but the beta uses Steamworks because it's "a far better environment" to test the game in. Bedrock Beta includes a sandbox map.

Tecmo Koei's 30-year-old Nobunaga's Ambition series is getting a new entry this year subtitled Creation, which will have fans crafting a new era during various historical periods of Japan.

They're going all out and will have a full 3D map with over 300 castles, which is their largest ever count. The dev team highlights three words: reality, dynamic and dramatic.

The number of fans buying the Interactive Compendium for DOTA 2's tournaments are growing fast, and the community have already unlocked two stretch goals. 25% of proceeds go into the International Prize Pool.

The digital tome is just $10 and is there to help fans navigate the tournament events. The next stretch goal is at $2m and rewards a custom HUD for all Compendium owners.

Open beta begins for English Anno Online users

Blue Byte's Anno Online is now entering the open beta phase for English speaking gamers. The free-to-play strategy sim has been developed with features suited to a "persistent, web-based game."

Ubisoft announce the closed beta was a "great success due to the high stability" of Anno Online, with testers given a decorative gift in thanks. A premium ship is also offered if they keep testing.

Valve has announced that enough sales of their $10 International Interactive Compendium have been achieved that owners of the DOTA 2 digital tome will now receive new Smeevil courier mounts.

It's a digital tome designed to guide players through DOTA 2's tournaments, as well as letting them participate in related events. 25% of proceeds go into the prize pool.

Stonehearth reaches $314k on Kickstarter, blazing through stretch goals

Radiant Entertainment's Stonehearth, a sandbox strategy inspired by Zelda-style visuals, had cleared its Kickstarter goal of $120k early on but there are plenty of stretch goals now on offer with 15 days left.

Currently the pledge pile stands at just over $314k from almost 10k backers. Nine stretch goals have been unlocked, with co-op multiplayer promised at the $400k mark.
