Earlier this month, Epic Games teased Xbox 360 owners with some screenshots of the upcoming port of Unreal Tournament III. They failed to summon any interest. It's extremely unusual for such an event to occur. If we take Epic's track record, (let alone the success of the Unreal Tournament series), their games have been at the forefront of Shooter fans' minds since 1999. The Unreal franchise is a legacy, one that even commands a widely accepted graphics engine. Is the reason simple ignorance or is there something more worrying at work? New Battlefield game explores new frontiers

Battlefield Heroes, the forth-coming ‘free-to-play’ game from EA is set to explore new markets previously un-visited here in the west.

Executive producer for EA’s DICE studio Ben Cousins explained that titles like this are for the gamers who EA have labelled “frustrated restricted”. These are gamers who are either intimidated by more experienced players, can’t afford a home console, or simply don’t have the time.

2K Boston's Chris Kline says that "BioShock should've failed"

During the GDC event in Paris the lead programmer said that for all the many setbacks to the project, BioShock should never have managed the success it achieved.

Kline admits that the projects "very first failure was that we wanted to base this whole thing on System Shock 2." Labelling it an action shooter changed everything.

Call of Duty 3 was no filler piece say Treyarch, just 8 months work

Two of Treyarch's dev team have said while they "don't think it was a filler title," they do feel they may have tried to "put too much in the game" for their short dev cycle.

Activision have a rotation schedule in place so that a new Call of Duty can ship each year with the torch passing between Treyarch and Infinity Ward.

EA is currently developing five titles in the Battlefield franchise

Ben Cousens, executive producer at EA's DICE studio, today confirmed at GDC Paris that the team is currently working on five titles in the Battlefield franchise.

We know that EA are currently working on Battlefield Heroes, its first free-to-play title, and that Battlefield: Bad Company is being released on Friday. This puts names to two of the three in development, but what about the other ones?

Halo 3 kill count exceeds Earth's estimated population

Recent forum users on a Bungie message board have pointed out that the total enemy kills in the popular online multiplayer game Halo 3 has exceeded the current world population. Official Bungie statistics place the total amount of enemy kills at 6,738,689,827 as of this writing, while many estimates of the world population come in just below that. The world population kills number was past sometime on Saturday June 21st.

Crytek showcasing CryEngine 2 in China

Gameindustry.biz is reporting that Crytek will be attending this year's ChinaJoy event, taking place July 17th to 19th in Shangahi.

Crytek will be demonstrating its CryEngine 2 technologies, the same engine that was used to develop Crysis.

Rumour-mongers have latched onto one staffer at Infinity Ward when he said they're "working on a new sci-fi title".

Atari has informed StrategyInformer that an Alone in the Dark demo will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace within the next few weeks. No information on additional versions of the demo were revealed. sdsdsd
