No go for EA-Land, formerly The Sims Online - the plug gets pulled

Many won't even know what the heck EA-Land is and was there really a move to get The Sims Online?

Well there was and it was re-branded as EA-Land which doesn't seem to have garnered much of a following because its virtual doors will be closed as of August 1st. Forever.

Valve's Team Fortress 2 update arrives, free-to-play weekend too

You can finally earn those achievements and get out the manly syringe, or partake of TF2's new co-operative Goldrush map and get into the cart action.

Also on the horizon is the Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend which starts this Friday and will go from May 2nd to the 4th. Free Steam account users are eligible.

Moore admits he "p*ssed a lot of people off" dumping PC Madden

Peter Moore has come clean about his decision to keep the PC version out of Madden NFL's next draft.

He says it simply "waned" as a platform for EA's sporting arm, he "made a business decision" and says they may well revisit the PC but with a different direction.

Recently the UK has been looking into the games rating system and its impact on young audiences.

Jason Kingsley believes Grand Theft Auto IV, possibly the biggest videogame launch ever, "should be celebrated" as a resounding British success story.

GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that both Yahoo! And Microsoft rejected Steam after Valve pitched the first concept to them, saying “That’s a million miles in the future…We can’t help you.”

EA announces new Online RTS trading card game

EA announced today that its EA Phenomic Studio is currently developing a new fantasy online RTS game for the PC, which goes by the name of BattleForge.

Sounding similar to Saga, BattleForge will allow players to assemble an army by collecting trading cards. You'll be able to trade, win or buy cards online to create your ultimate army. Massive online battlegrounds are also promised with players able to mix and match elements of cards to create devastating attacks.

Future Crytek titles will be multi-platform, no more PC exclusives

The PC Play magazine has released an English version of an interview it did with Cevat Yerli, president of the German Studio Crytek, which is well known for developing Crysis. In the interview they discuss the success and failures of Crysis, but more importantly the state of the PC gaming industry.

New Mass Effect Screenshots

We've published 21 new screenshots for Mass Effect, which is in development by BioWare and is currently set for release on the PC.

Mass Effect will be released on 27th May, 2008.
