The duo work as a team to destroy the Immortals (powerful vampires) gaining additional powers according to the time of day or night respectively.
The DS’ top screen displays a special ‘paraSOL’ system, which tracks the cycle of day and night and also generates weather conditions. The types of enemies are dictated by readings on the paraSOL. Aaron and Lucian are also assisted by elemental guardians dubbed ‘Terrenials’. Their attacks are summoned via the Nintendo DS touch screen and microphone, for example drawing circles conjures fire, blowing into the microphone freezes enemies. Terrenials’ are stronger or weaker against enemies with specific elemental types e.g. fire/ice.
When our Lunar Knights blast off into 3D space to fry enemies with intense solar energy, the gameplay changes to several shooting levels, the touch screen guiding their rocket ship. The game’s appeal is further extended with a multiplayer mode that allows up to four players to engage in a ‘Battle Royale’ using only one game cartridge.
