And the winners are... So, the two weeks are over, and I'm sure you're all eager to know who's won? No? Oh ok then, I'll come back in January, shall I? As before, names were picked randomly using this number generator. Each prize category was drawn for separately, with winners names be taking out of the pool for the next category. In case you were wondering, the answers I were look for were either 'Green' and/or 'Black'. If you go to Deathing's WoWWiki page, and scroll down to the bit about the 'Second War' (I.e. Warcraft 2) you will see the unit model I was referencing. To be honest, only one person was disqualified for getting it wrong, as they said purple. Everyone else more or less got it right (Someone said "green with red hair"... not sure where they got that from). And so, without further ado, the winners are.... TOP PRIZE: djole381 MAIN PRIZES: VHugoSama devel noobst3R Hellweed RaviL Congratulations to all! Now, as much as we love rewarding our regulars, it would have been nice to have seen some new faces winning. Unfortunately, many of the new sign-ups couldn't seem to grasp the concept of CONSISTENT activity, as well as needing to be at least the rank of SI Veteran Newbie. Because of this, I decided to award the final two standard additions as conciliatory prizes to the following: abahnur999: For being the only new sign-up to come close to getting the required rank, and for being the only new sign-up that tried to be active. Graeme: Is an old-hand from the forums - he helped the staff in trying to maintain it, even during hard times, so he gets this last prize as a 'thank you'. It may be a few days later than we had planned for, but we've finally gotten everything together for our epic Christmas World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Giveaway. Excited? No? Then get out. The Prizes We've talked a little bit already about what kind of prizes we've got for you, but here's the final official list: * TOP PRIZE: One signed Collector's Edition of World of Warcraft Cataclysm. * FIVE Standard Edition Cataclysm games, each with a T-Shirt and a Poster. * TWO Standard Edition Cataclysm games on their own. The Competition So, let's cut to the chase and tell you guys how to enter. Since this article has already been up for a few days, to avoid clutter we won't be having you enter using this form here. Entry into this competition requires you to do two things. One: You must email me the answer to the following question: In real-world chronology, Deathwing first appeared in the game Warcraft II. What colour was his unit model? Email the answer, along with your site login name to joe [at] strategyinformer [dot] com Two: Similar to the previous Starcraft II competition, you have to be active. Consistent (but reasonable) activity for the entirety of the competition will make you eligible to be put into the prize draw. The Rules * Definition: What we mean by consistent activity is that we would like you to 'do' something at least once every day for the duration of the competition. Comments (and there are lot of places you can comment, uploading photos, uploading mods, blogging... there's a lot of things you can do show activity that we can track. * Quantity: This is not a 'Most Posts Wins' competition. No reply wars with each other, no spamming, nothing crazy. * Reasonable activity: We just want you to prove to us that you're committed to the site, but only do things that make sense. Comment only on the stories that interest you or that you have something interesting to say on. Post up photos that you would anyway... Even if that means you only do one or two things a day, provided you keep that up through-out the competition, that will be enough. * Disqualification: Not following the rules, long periods of inactivity, Spam or anything we deem OTT will disqualify you from the competition. During SCII, we were touched by the enthusiasm some of your showed, but it got a bit out of hand. * New Sign-ups: Anyone who's new to the site when they sign up for the competition, you must be at least SI Veteran Newbie by the time the competition ends. Considering you get points for everything, this is easily achievable provided you're consistent. * EU Readers Only: Sadly, the prizes are region locked to the EU servers, so only people with access to those servers will be able to enter. We were unable to organise anything with the American Blizzard office on such short notice. The Winners The competition will end on Christmas Day. Everyone who has gotten the question right and met the activity requirements will then be entered into a draw, and the winners will be picked at random. We'll try and announce the winners as soon as we can, but we're technically 'closed' over the holidays, so bear with us. -------------------------------------- There you have it folks. If it were to be 'limited' to anything, it would be Europe because that's where all the staff is based. I'll have a chat to the boss however, see what we can do since its Christmas and everything.

US-only competitions are rare, and are generally only there because the prize isn't coming from us, but the sponsor. If they're US based themselves then they're generally less inclined to ship overseas.

It's hard Eversor, because to get physical prizes we need to deal directly with the local PR's. Since we have no offices out in the US, it's hard to get prizes for our US peeps on our own :(

We do try our best though, and there's always digital codes.

I'm away for two days and when i come back from school I see this? I'm in awe.. SI has done it again!
I was online at the moment Cataclysm went Live on Euro servers and around 00.12 everyone was just up in the air flying on their pretty little mounts and I'm on the ground.. sobbing.. that i can't get cataclysm :( Would be quite something to get an exclusive Cataclysm Collectioners signed for SI, anyone that gets it should really know and appreciate what they have in hands. :)

I've read every article printed, and on the web surrounding WoW since it was first launched. I have kept away from it as my son pleaded with me not to get into it as he would become addicted (too many friends with falling grades at school - he's an OP1).
Now I have no excuses...time to dip the foot in the lake (shudder!!!). And I was just starting to get a fair KDR in "BF:BC 2" and looking forward to "Vietnam".

We'll make it a New Year's Resolution to try and improve things on the US side :) We just hired a new US guy, so maybe he can help with orginisation.

By the way, just to avoid confusion, I'll give you a hint: There are basically two possible answers to this question, as all WC2 sprites have a base colour and then a 'team' colour, which is unique for heroes like Deathwing. We'll accept either/both as an answer.

Remember though, that getting it right isn't enough, you have to show CONSISTENT activity. So no doing a massive push now and then nothing for two weeks.

You can also get points by uploading photos or mods, joining and participating in camps I beleive... submitting user reviews. Possibly by adding games to your own/wish lists, I can't remember.

There's plenty you can do though, and the threshold is like 50 points (with no limit on how many points you can earn in a day) so it's pretty easy :)

You don't have to have played WC2 or any of the previous games... although as many people have said, it's worth doing anyway.

I never choose a question whose answer isn't disoverable through publically available information on the internet. All it takes is some research :)

By the way, SI Veteran Newbie means you need merely 50 points. 2 points per comment. We wanted to finally make a unique competition where we would reward members that have been with us for some time. Normal competitions where there wont be rank requirements will follow. But obviously even new members wont find it difficult to qualify.

But keep in mind that we can clearly see who posted how many comments in any recent time frame, and easily list what those comments and general points were for. Not saying that anybody will want to cheat of course! But we're ready! :)

I got my Wow Cataclysm Collectors Edition today. But for some reason I had to pay 30 euro customs fee. Those damn pencil pushers here in Serbia will always find some way to rob you. Anyway, great thanks to the SI staff :) You guys are the best :D

They told me it was a customs fee. Apparently anything sent from abroad, be it a gift, prize etc must go through customs. Meh, either way it was worth it. The collectors edition is awesomeness in it's purest form. :D
