Now onto the winners! As many of you guessed correctly, the answer is indeed James Stuart, the Duke of York at the time. New York (formerly New Amsterdam because it was founded by the Dutch first) was renamed in his honour when the British gained control over the town. Only one person got it wrong, although I won't name & shame this time.
