And that's it! Competition is OVER. Thanks to everyone who participated, we had a good turnout. Since this is a sponsored competition, we'd just like to mention one last time that you should go check out the EA Store if you still want to buy the game on PC.

Now onto the winners! As many of you guessed correctly, the answer is indeed James Stuart, the Duke of York at the time. New York (formerly New Amsterdam because it was founded by the Dutch first) was renamed in his honour when the British gained control over the town. Only one person got it wrong, although I won't name & shame this time.

Ok, so before we get into things, first off we owe some of your guys an apology. I thought we would be able to open this competition up to the US, however there were some last minute caveats that have once again tied our hands. My sincerest apologies. I can guarantee though that the next competition will be open for our readers out in the US, even if it's not as uber as a copy of Crysis 2. Hey, we're trying, you know? Anyway...

The Competition

So, in order to celebrate the launch of a little-known game called Crysis 2, we're holding a special giveaway where one lucky reader can have a chance to win a Nano-Edition copy of the game on PC.

The Prizes

* ONE Nano-Edition copy of Crysis 2 (Physical product)

* Three codes to download any game from the EA Store

The Rules

Ok, so with so few prizes, we're just going to keep things simple. PM me the answer to the following question:

Crysis 2 is set in New York. Who was the City named after?

Get it right, you will be entered into the draw, and we will randomly pick the winner from that.

Although, if you wanted to show how much you appreciate us by keeping up the posting and what have you... you never know... *whistles* Also remember that that, if you don't win, you can always go straight to the EA store and just buy the game.

You know the drill by now, get to it! This competition will end next Friday, the 1st of April. Good luck and have fun!

You forgot one critical point herodotus "the sunny beaches of Australia, replete with gorgeous, tanned women"... and SHARKS thats right the only time I saw a great white was in Australia, for those who like to be friends with these creatures they are welcome to try, but for me I refuse to have any close encounters with them, I will never forget "Jaws".

Just not nearly as much a problem as the poisonous octopi, fish, snakes, spiders......
And sharks can't get to you outside the water. Try a nice big Sydney trapdoor spider on for size.

BTW, I hope you're not saying I was the one that got it wrong because I explained to you that NEw York was named after York, which gave the name of the title to Stuart. Therefore New York wasn't named after anyone.

@Roderick, It was named in honour of James Stuart, who was the Duke of York at the time, from my understanding. Maybe I'm wrong, but the implication is they were honouring the man, not the title, so if he had been the Duke of Manchester instead, it would have been called New Manchester. Maybe. I don't know :D

It could also be a number of sugestions, uploads, or speaking in a discussion group, I dunno, it's up to the Mods to run the place, but we could also lend a hand from time to time, like Kres has asked us many times before :D

It wouldn't surprise me if some member registered several profiles just to increase his odds of getting the prize. But, on the other hand, moderators should notice such things, so I'm probably wrong. Anyways, it would be fair if the future competitions would require you to be at least Veteran Newbie or something.

Guys, the "Just Got Here" members quite often end up becoming productive and/or faithful members. The Comps are a great way of attracting new members, so look at it that way and don't worry....your time will come.

Yeah guys that's basically how anyone becomes a good member. They start at the begining. So let's treat new people warmly please.

We need to include the new people as well. Sometimes with some special extras we should give to more veteran members. But we don't do that many competitions. So it's mainly just opened to everyone. Which doesn't mean we don't respect our veteran members. Omg does it? x) Course not. But it's just the way the ball needs to roll.

So far the best competitions have been the comments based ones because the site turns into life with those. And that really makes the site look good.

Yeah, seriously guys. How many prizes do we try and give out in a year? You guys can potentially make a killing out of us, and I *thought* you would be mature about a straight up draw where anyone could win.

This isn't some private members club, and I have to balance the needs of the old guard as well as enticing the newbies as well. I've got like 4 comps worth of prizes in the office raring to go, you can't just let this one slide?
