The enemy soldier flanking you, the grenade just lobbed your way, you accept them because they are meant to simulate how such opponents would act in reality. Good A.I. copes with your good decisions and exploits your mistakes.

Despite having released the game 3 months ago, the Funcom team had set up shop this year right in the heart of the Messe. They had a wonderfully crafted castle-like hub, complete with a stage, demo booths and of course scantily clad women.

The role-playing genre has seen its ups and downs the past few years, but 2008 has paved way for a few clear cut answers to what the future holds for fans of the genre.

Beginning with the start of 2008, it’s evident to see that the RPG genre has heavily moved over to the handhelds. The Nintendo DS alone has seen close to 20 RPGs release on its platform and by the end of the year the count could be up to 35-40 RPGs. Overall, the Nintendo DS looks to be receiving more RPG support than it did in 2007 when it had a count close to 30 by the year’s end.

Recently I was invited to the EA Community Summit for Red Alert 3. Before then, all we'd heard about the title was scraps and pieces. In fact, after the event there are even more questions to ask, and all attendants still know very little about the game.

However, in this two-part Red Alert 3 extravaganza, we're going to go over the intricacies of the designing of Red Alert 3. For two grueling, exciting and unforgettable days, EA made us keenly aware of what they're doing, looking to accomplish, and where they are aiming. I'm going to share just that.
