New RTS/Simulator Hybrid on the Way: "DCS: Combined Arms"!

If you have played any of the previous "DCS" simulators to date ("KA-50 Black Shark", "A-10C Warthog","P-51D Mustang") you'll know the products. Here though, by introducing the FREE "DCS World" the forthcoming "DCS: Combined Arms" will bring all titles into play.
Control a real-time battlefield from above, or jump into the vehicles themselves to take part in the battles.

"DCS: Combined Arms gives you control of ground forces during the battle. Use the strategic Command Map to move ground forces, set artillery fire missions, and control the ground battle. Assume the role of a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and designate targets for close air support aircraft, or directly control an armor vehicles or air defense weapons and engage enemy forces.

Play DCS: Combined Arms as a real time strategy game, a first person armor warfare simulation, or direct the ground battle from the cockpit of a DCS aircraft like the A-10C Warthog, Ka-50 Black Shark, or P-51D Mustang.

DCS: Combined Arms supports both single player and multiplayer gameplay. When in multiplayer, different players can take on different roles such as artillery commanders, tank commanders, pilots, JTACS, etc. DCS: Combined Arms allows you full control of the battle. All roles can be changed dynamically during the battle."

Well see hardcore aeroplane sims are a bridge too far for me...But those alternatives look might tempting. I can handle an armoured vehicle or a patrol boat just fine thank you very much!

And that little part of brain that's entirely dedicated to elitism will LOVE to get a hold of some command power ^_^

Must keep an eye on this to be sure.

That's the beauty of "DCS" flight sims, you can select Realistic or Game for your controls and gameplay. So if you just want to casually fly these choppers and jets, without resorting to 40+ keystrokes just to start the engines you can (I'm not kidding about the keystrokes either).
That's the way I fly if I just want to bust some turret-heads and generally muck about with a 30mm cannon attached to jet. The F-15C should be up next.

The tanks and ships will be sweet. I haven't played a good armour simulator in a long time ("Panzer Elite"), and that's including "ArmA II".

ArmaII's armour felt very arcade-y to me. Not at all like the soldier part of the game or even the airborne vehicles (which I felt were sort of in the middle).

And I'll never forget flipping over because I hit a small pebble at full speed. Jeeeeeeeez

I can tell that as soon as I move out of my parents' house (end of this year with any luck) I'll be setting up a little corner with all the required trimmings for a title like this.
