The site is awesome!!

It's pretty good actually, but it took me a little by surprise.

The biggest change for the better, that was actually urgent, is with the new media player, it supports full screen and HD now. I usually just watched the same videos elsewhere if the quality of the stream was important, now i won't have to :).

Where will the comps be listed? In the main news section? They used to be posted in that section a little lower.

I just want to make sure I don't miss any :)

Also noticed, I can now actually see my notifications. The old site failed to load that page 60% of the time, now it's fine.

I never had that problem i always got my notifications. The only thing i noticed was that sometimes the occasional notification would stay even after checking it, but it was very rare.

I just got a white page most of the time. And no matter how many times I reloaded it stayed the same, had to try again later.

Actually it would seem i'm still having that issue, i'm still seeing notifications that i've already checked on my last visit. It's a very minor issue, maybe something to do with cookies.

I have that too sometimes. Nothing serious.

Glad you're liking it so far guys :) don't be afraid to email us any feedback, positive or negative. It's important we get a feel for what the community actually want/like.

If you see any bugs, let us know as well, we're still trying to iron out a lot of them.

The site looks amazing, I must admit!

Video player HD is not yet "perfected". There are some issues. The current quality level isn't perfect and yet it prevents the stream from buffering in real time. So we're checking options there. Thanks guys!

Yea i've noticed i can't skip the video ahead in the player, it would be cool if that was possible. It's mostly logos in the first 30 seconds of these videos anyway.

I've noticed that too... Yeah that should be possible to do. I'll check if we can work that out with the devs.

How is your streaming working? Buffers real time?

It's streaming normally i guess. The video is normally loading and playing at the same time.

It seems to work fine in that regard, yes. But the not skipping ahead should be defiantely be a priority I think.

I'll make sure to get the devs to work that out.

Yeah and when you click on notifications, it goes to 0, but when you then click on another page, it's back to whatever number it was. Cache issue. Needs to be resolved as well.

Thanks for the input guys. We get like 50-60,000 unique visitors per day, yet we get like 1-2 feedbacks like this per month. Pfft. So thanks for any inputs!

We got 2 dev teams now btw. The new team is working on a new forum for SI. Will be custom made since we already got a lot of features developed for the site. So we don't really need to use anyones code for forum threads, categories etc. Lets hope that rolls out soon... Will be of course combined now with SI accounts and not need 2 account for both...

But if you want feedback, how's about putting some polls up on certain features? Perhaps on that new forum you mentioned. Seems like a good idea to get a general view on things.

Also, I still don't know where you're going to put up any future comps. Main news section?

Ouch sorry Roderick, the competitions are going to be placed in that new top left banner. That is showing A GAME OF THRONES promo ad.

Indeed, it's not likely to get feedback without asking it seems. There were some ideas for such stuff but not yet done. There's always too many things to do, and too few devs to do it. Now with two teams, if the new team works out, the things should improve and start rolling out faster.

Another issue that is still here from the old site:
Whenever someone replies to a comment under a video, when i click on that notification it instead opening the thread it gives me an option to download the video instead, which i can then download and save.

Rereading my post i thought it would be cool if there was an edit button on this part of the site as well :).

Oh, and the video issue happens always without exception, it's been that way for quite some time now but i don't exactly remember when i first noticed it. Let's say many months ago.

There'a slo one thing I noticed. When you post a comment somewhere, and there were already some comments there, it seems you get notifications as if those other comments were replies to your comments (that's currently the latest). That needs fixing too. Noticed it?

We were really thinking of removing camps because they were never done, promoted, and kicked off properly. People just didn't used it much.

SI Forums are currently being developed. That would replace the whole COMMUNITY main page. It would replace blogs with forum threads basically, and there wouldn't be a need for that page anymore. Those stats that show on the right sidebar can be shown on forums index page.

I'm all for that.

I never ventured far outside the main site anyway but if the whole thing gets merged into one single entity it definitely would not hurt.

I've been regularly lurking this site for around 10 years and i've registered 2-3 years ago only to have discovered that we have forums not longer than 6 moths ago :). AKA the site's ecosystem was a bit unintuitive if you weren't exactly looking for the forums. Similar story with this part of the site.

So again, +1 for merging all these different pieces of the site into one coherent whole.

Not that it would be completely impossible to measure time in moths :) but i still kinda meant months.

Did anybody had any virus reports today? I did and I know at least Jonah had it too. Looks like somebody wanted to celebrate the new design launch with us by throwing a virus on us. Not fully confirmed yet. Just getting early reports now.

Didn't have anything like that.

It's more of a malware. We're trying to track it down but it seems to only appear once to who it appears to. We're trying to figure it out.

Yes, why does this happen on a bloody weekend. Couldn't reach devs so far... Sunday even worse. We're working on getting this resolved guys really sorry.

We also had major issue with Malware appearing on one ad through some network. Or we were hacked. Will know more tomorrow or on Monday.

Cannot submit anythin g at present using IE8, Chrome or FF (Sunday night 23:55 hrs).

Well, obviously I can submit a post here, but not on the news pages. Meanwhile, I played three rouns of "BF3" toay without a cash (the fourth time crashed). Just showed how shallow the maps and gunplay are with Level 30's (the game hasn't even been out more than ten days) camping Flags, as opposed to Capping them. Need to find another game to get into, and "Batman:AA" is still a ways off while searching for a good price (one that's unaffected by EB Games and Game tinkering with the market).
Anyhoot, back to topic:)

Dear lord, well done guys!

Out of curiosity, what the hell was the problem?

For starters, around past Friday somebody hacked into our adserver and added extra lines of codes to some of the banners that were serving. As it was weekend and devs weren't available, we started turning off services to prevent the malware from spreading on people computers through SI. This included shutting down ALL advertisements from Saturday to Monday. So we lost a countable sum of money due to it. Weekends is when our traffic is always higher by some 20%.

Sorted now, so we're going back to other issues we were working on before the malware was noted.

My computer was infected by that Malware. Through SI. A bloody thing. Took me 20 minutes to get it off. I presume that if we got anybody infected with it that we wont see that person again on SI. So I'm not sure if a competitor site did that to us. But we don't really have any enemies that we're aware of. In any case, it happened and isn't the first nor the last time that it did. Just the usual BS on the internet. We have updated our Ad Server system to the newest version so at least this wont ocurr in the same way...

Probably just another basement-dwelling jerk then.

Would be great to meet him in person and crack his skull on a few places. To play with him for a bit.

May I suggest a few drops of concentrated hydrofluoric acid? It'll burn straight to the bone-marrow. Slowly.

On a lighter note, I just saw a bunny :D

We could beat him with a wet towel soaked in it :p but yeah we're trying to track him down. Probably not possible but there's always at least a slim chance.

Also, I can confirm that the bunny was in fact evil. It sort of attacked my dog. Considering the fact that said dog is a two year old German Shepard...I think it was an evil Japanese bunny. On the plus side, I don't have to feed the dog today. (totally serious btw)

I'm still blinking profusely at the bunny situation....I swear the damn thing was possesed or something. All the dog was doing was lying down, when the lupine critter rushed out of the bushes and just started taking lunges at her. Didn't take long for my, already easily exited, pet to just jump it.

It is now in a state of dismemberment on the family lawn. My other dog already swooped in to steal a leg or something. Wtf....just, wtf.

Did you delete your internet history, i had the same problem until i ran a session of CrapCleaner on the default settings (a fantastic free program for those that don't know it yet).

Feature request: spoiler tags
We don't need them that often here on a news and rumor site but it would not hurt to have them anyway.

On the future forum it seems that would be handy.
