R.I.P. Christopher Hitchens

"British-born author, literary critic and journalist Christopher Hitchens has died at the age of 62."

The world lost one of it's greatest and sharpest minds today. I never met the man, but I can't help feeling personally afflicted by his loss. His writing and his recorded dabates played a role in the development of my own rationality and steeled the lack of my religious beliefs. If we had more of his caliber, the world would be a better place.

He was a very gifted writer, however he lost my support and following when he began defending Bush and everything the US Gov't did after the attacks on Spetember 11, 2001. He became not only a staunch advocate of Bush's illegal invasion of Iraq, but an apologist for anything the Gov't did wrong then and after.
A sad endnote to an otherwise inspirational and controversial life.
