Funcom, best known for their development of The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, has announced their future plans for single player only games. They’ve decided that they won’t be making anymore offline PC games and will now focus their efforts on online games only.
What should fans blame this on? Piracy. Funcom revealed that over 200,000 people had downloaded illegal copies of Dreamfall before it even managed to reach retail stores, which must of put quite a dent on sales.
The company hasn’t issued any information on the development of Dreamfall Chapters, recently announced as the next game in the Dreamfall series. All of these games have been offline ones so far so we presume they’ll be making Chapters an online game.
We’ll get in contact with Funcom and see if we can find out what their plans are for future Dreamfall games. Stay tuned!
