Jack Thompson's "Help" Refused by EA.
posted on 03/10/2008 13:53

As you may or may not have heard by now, Jack Thompson is trying (or has tried, I should say) to help EA with its recent bid to take Take Two Interactive, creators of the popular Grand Theft Auto Series. Not only did EA blatantly refuse Jack's offer, they wrote a rather unflattering letter that has been circulated over the Internet much to the amusement of gamers. Apparently, EA hasn't forgotten the false statements that Jack Thompson has made about the popular Sims 2 franchise. (Below is EA's letter to Thompson).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr. Thompson,

We have received your letter to EA’s shareholder site. In response to your offer to assist in the proposed acquisition of Take-Two, we would strongly prefer that you not get involved in this matter. EA is a strong supporter of creative freedom for game developers. We feel that your past statements – including false claims about content in our games – make any collaboration with you impossible.

Sincerely,
Mariam Sughayer
Sr. Manager Corporate Communications
Electronic Arts, Inc.

To quote a popular Jack Thompson parody on YouTube: "The Sims 2 has ni**les and p**ises and p**ic hair in it. LOOK! IT'S THERE!"

Shooter Woes: From n00b to Pro Killer to meh?
posted on 03/01/2008 13:49

I have no idea what's wrong with me. Maybe it was something I ate. Or maybe it's all the pollution in the air. Yeah. That has to be it. My main game, Counter-Strike 1.6, the same game I've had since I was thirteen is the same game that is causing me problems. Previously when I wrote "A brief history of my experience with shooters." (which recieved many comments from people who shared their shooter experience, thanks guys) I was owning noobs left and right. Dare come through my front door? BOOM HEADSHOT! *taunting ensues* My greates achievement occured on the map cs_assault (a score of 40-14) and is recorded in my gallery. But ever since my friend started playing I've been doing rather terrible, with scores I don't dare to mention. I've lost my l33t.

In other news, I've been gearing up for my purchase of The Orange Box for the PC (that's tomorrow!!!yay!!!) by playing through Half-Life 2. It's been some help with my epic failure at Counter-Strike. Right now I'm at Ravenholm and have just recieved a nice shotgun to BLOW THOSE DAMN LEAPERS STRAIGHT TO HELL. Thanks Father Grigori :D.

Also, my sister will be purchasing Sims 2 Freetime tomorrow so I'll just watch her play and tell you guys whats up with that.

Goldeneye Rumor Smashed by Microsoft
posted on 02/26/2008 16:40

Despite a number of hopeful rumors that have popped up stating that Goldeneye would be heading to the Xbox Live Arcade, Microsoft was quick to crush some dreams. The N64 classic was recently rumored to be heading to the XBLA, going so far as to having its own four-page spread in Xbox World 360.

A brief history of my experience with shooters.
posted on 02/18/2008 13:17

1 thumbs up

I've been playing shooters for pretty long time now. It all started when I was 8, my folks got me Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 for Christmas. I actually wanted the Episode 1 game since it was a story I was familiar with but I played it anyways. That Christmas was full of blaster pistols and flying Stormtrooper limbs (that never got old for me). My second experience was much more serious as it change my view on shooters forever. It all happened when I was about nine and there was a lot of buzz about Half-Life. So, loving games and wanting to find out what the big deal was over this one game was, I went and downloaded the demo of Half-Life. That night I was unable to sleep. It was the scariest game I had ever played (think about this now, a nine year old playing a game made for seventeen year-olds). Still scared shit-less I wanted to play the game and it wasn't until two years after that I purchased the Half-Life 1 Anthology. Shortly, after that I also purchased the Counter-Strike 1 Anthology which marked the end of my strategy gaming career. Ever since I've indulged myself in a series of shooters, everything from Duke Nukem 3D to Pain Killer to Call of Duty 2. I've come to expect a lot from developers of FPSs and have expressed my outrage over terrible shooters such as Meadal of Honour: Allied Assault (which thankfully isn't in the Strategy Informer database, seriously though guys, one guy takes out an 3+ German compunds without any back-up and lives to tell about? WHAT SHIT!). So what has your experience with shooters been like?
