Massive freeflow genering levells shooter/RPG - take two?

I'm of course referring to Borderlands. This game hadn't enticed me until yesterday when I watched a few in game movies of sniper rifles, dual wieldiing maniacs going loose and huge monsters getting the asses whopped by RPG fire - and then of course the most important features today - listen kiddies!
1. No Games For Windows Live!
2. No DRM other then STEAM's system for the STEAM version.

Two good reasons sans the games own features of course. That you can have up to 3 or 4 pals joing in on your game whenever you like to is well... a bonus, an added value...? That I don't think will rock the boat too much. It feels a bit like Sacred 2 - oh yeah and I was how interested in that game? Probably as much as I would be of ice in the antarctics...

Borderland has one feature more that I like - the cartoonish appearance. I like this step and think that it is a good idea since it could mean that the graphics won't look dated too quickly. also, it means you can get away with some graphic absurdities that will look a bit silly when you strive for realism.

also, I wanted to mention that I love the work a guy called WESP - his patch for Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines made the Steam version playable. Hopefully it can keep me occupied and see me to the end this time of the vampire saga. Too sad that this is Troika's game. Troika had some brilliant minds - but the department dealing with publishers and time estimations weren't any geniuses...

Just hate that to play games you have to be on line with steam :,(

If I'm not totally mistaken this one can be played in offline mode with STEAM. The retail version is on its own, it doesn't use neither STEAM nor GFWL to play. Only reason for me to go with STEAM is the pricetag this time and I felt that this is a game that fits for STEAM - and no SecuROM problems with the Steam version!

SO, Borderlands is a borderland console/PC version. After visiting the main webapge and read up on tweaks, the game finally felt a tiny bit more like a PC game and not a lousy console port.

Too may things you are used to customize within the game like gun bob, VSync etc wasn't in the menu from start. ini changes are OK, but really... VSync for any moderns games should be a must!

Also, the game has no save option, it is like Diablo II save - every time you exit you have a save station were the latest you is saved. No biggie, unless you are smack in the middle of a large quest and your kids goes berserk. Way funny to not being able to save. i guess the seamless join in was the cause for this design. They should make an option to have online characters available and none online dito's to both remedy the no save and the online cheating. by the way, still no patching the online connect issues for PC...

It is an OK game - but the handiwork is lack-luster.
