Upgrading PC: Would like some feedback.

I'm looking to upgrade my PC enough to be able to play CoD4, Fallout 3 and possibly CoD:WaW (if any of you look at my gaming rig in my greeting message then you have already shit bricks laughing).

I don't have a lot of cash at the moment so I'm scraping everything piece by piece. I'm starting off with the purchase of these two components:

-------------------------------------------

* MBM-GF8200-4800 :: XFX GeForce 8200 Motherboard CPU Bundle - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Processor 2.5GHz OEM (includes a 256MB video chipset GeForce 8200)

* Crucial 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory (0.35 lbs)

-------------------------------------------

So far the total comes down to $287 CDN. My question is if I'll be able to run CoD4 using the Motherboard/CPU bundle and the included video chipset. I'm pretty sure the processor is on par with the requirements CoD4 needs but I'm not sure if the video chipset will support it.

I haven't got a idea how the market works in Poland, but I can maybe help you out with a few things.

First of all the the board and CPU is more than enough to handle COD 4, just remember to put DDR2 2GB's in the slots (even 667MHZ will work fine but 800MHZ/1066MHZ is better)

The onboard GPU is also very good, as it is XFX, the only thing I'm not sure of, is how well the GPU will perform. I've never seen the 8200 in action and also it doesn't show how much bit the GPU has.

If I can give you advice, well this depends on your cash flow, try and get a 8400XFX if they're still on the market. The onboard should be able to handle COD 4 with slight resistances but enough for your expectations. If you do decide to buy a higher model GPU, just make sure that the "RAM and BIT" is enough, example 512/256 or 256/128.

Good luck on your system, If you have any other questions, be sure to ask anyone of us!

Yeah I picked up 2GB 800MHz memory.I looked around some other forum sites and people said they could run CoD4 on even older graphics cards, so I just wanted to be sure.

The XFX 8400 is cheap as shit where I'm looking at so I think I'll pick it up. I want to get the motherboard first because it comes with a relatively good CPU and a good video chip. I'll probably pick one up after I get the motherboard/CPU and memory.

Thanks for the heads up!

If you really want a gaming machine you need to get on [[digitalstormonline.com]] with price ranging from 2-15,000. Options like twin processers, triple graphics cards.
