Ubisoft is grinning proudly that Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has proved naysayers wrong, that this was "not just 'AC2.5'" but a full blown sequel.
The retailers "were unsure" but PR and talks won them over that Brotherhood was a major title, and "sales bear that out now". The brand is at 20m sold.
"At first retailers were unsure – they didn’t realise it was a full sequel, not just ‘AC2.5’,” said Ubisoft's Geoffroy Sardin. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood has sold over 1 million copies in Europe in less than a week, making it the fastest selling IP for Ubisoft.
"But slowly through PR and discussions with them we have proven this is a new Assassin’s Creed and a complete sequel, not just an add-on. The sales bear that out now, and retailers tell us they are very confident in it,” continued Sardin.
Brotherhood has scored higher critically than Call of Duty: Black Ops, Gran Turismo 5 and Fallout: New Vegas as it managed to secure 89 on Metacritic. Ubisoft has said "a big Assassin's Creed game" is set for release in 2011. Is this AC3?
