Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines is still practicing its chest-bursting, but SEGA West's Alan Pritchard says info is due in the "next couple of months".

The sci-fi shooter was kept away from Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator. SEGA is "working closely" with the Borderlands developer "behind the scenes".

"Colonial Marines . We’ve been working closely with Gearbox behind the scenes, and we’ll be able to tell you a lot about that in the next couple of months," SEGA West VP of marketing and sales, Alan Pritchard, told US magazine Game Informer.

It was feared that Aliens: Colonial Marines was cancelled at one point leading to Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford to confirm it was beating strong at their studio. "It won't be November 11th," Pritchard said, dismissing rumours. "We haven't announced a date yet."

"It's unlikely that we'd launch anything within six months, but probably nine months, eight to 12 months possibly," said SEGA president Mike Hayes at the February 2010 launch of Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator. His words add up to around now.

"With the state of the code available to us with Aliens vs. Predator from Rebellion, that kind of forced us and allowed us to slightly alter our Aliens road-map and strategy. It made sense to release that first," explained Pritchard.

"Aliens vs. Predator was a success for us, and we're developing an Aliens franchise roadmap, so there will be subsequent Aliens games." Are you looking forward to Gearbox Software's first-person shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines?

I am looking forward to it, but hope it bares no resmeblance to "AVP". The grainy graphics, poor controls, terrible SP maps...the list goes on for Rebellion's "Love it or Hate it" work. In addition the multiplatform look and feel may have ardent PC gamers running for cover long before the first crawler rounds the corner. This was my major gripe with "Fear 2".

If is base on AVP it can't be that good, still I will wait and see...

Well if this is based on other titles that have succeeded, like the Left4Dead concept for instance, this could be a hit. Interesting it is at least.
