Get ready Sonic fans because while SEGA was "guilty of bringing too much Sonic to market" before, they've learned their lesson and learnt it well.

They want to up the quality of a "pure Sonic platform" experience, like Sonic Colours. Early next year SEGA has some "big Sonic announcements" coming.

Once again it was SEGA West VP of marketing and sales, Alan Pritchard, who spilled the beans on the publisher's plans. This time it was Sonic related and that we'll be getting some more news on his platforming adventures soon enough.

"We're looking to improve the quality and focus of a pure Sonic platform gaming experience. We have released Sonic 4 digitally, which has reviewed very well."

"Free Riders was really about being a part of the launch of Kinect. Then, we have Colours, which is our pure Sonic gaming experience. That's had some high scores. It's also the highest pre-selling pure Sonic title we've had ever," said Pritchard.

"That's a good indication. With the quality of the game, we're confident of that. That's our pure platforming Sonic."

"But to your point, we have some announcements in the early part of next year that will further support and add to this strategy. There will be two of three big Sonic announcements in the early part of next calendar year."

Pritchard has also revealed SEGA does indeed have a Dreamcast collection all planned out, and that there will be more information on Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines soon. Then there's that other Platinum Games title getting SEGA stamped too.

Fans have mostly be looking forward to Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which is an all digital release and revisits the more traditional days of Sonic on Genesis but with complete HD visuals and modern 2.5D platform action; it arrives in episodes.

Looking forward to hearing more on "Aliens: Colonial Marines", as any fan of the series would be. The rest, not so much.
