Good news for Sony accountants, sales are up considerably from the previous quarter when only 3.57 million units were sold.
It doesn't take a mathematical genius to know that more of Sony's next-gen console are getting snapped up. The veteran PS2 meanwhile saw a drop from 14.91 to 13.73. This means that there have been nearly 13 million units of the PlayStation 3 sold in its lifetime, and the corporate gaming and electronics giant expects this financial quarter to reach 10 million sold. Software for the PS3 has blasted through the roof for Sony rising from FY06's 13.4 million to FY07's 57.9 million. Trends confidently show the PS3 is now taking the gloves off and has made serious traction against the Xbox360. Microsoft's early launch allowed the company to get the edge over Sony's latest prodigy - now they're finally fighting back at retail. Other figures from Sony indicate that PSP figures are generally static while the poor PS2 is starting to show its age and losing its breathe at retail but its definitely not out of the race yet. | |

I think that low priced 40 gig model and the ending of the format war really helped boost sales of the PS3, I actually bought mine because I wanted a blu-ray player for my theater room and ended up playing more games on it than my Xbox 360. frankly, I love ...

Read more...the darn thing! |
