Developer Runic has stated that there are "no PS3 plans to speak of" regarding PC's Torchlight headlining Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade House Party.
Frankly the team is "a little relieved" they didn't opt for Xbox 360 and PS3 given "how much work" was involved. Torchlight is "nice and small" at just 200Mb.
"No PS3 plans to speak of. Microsoft is acting as the publisher on this one. And given how much work it was to get one console game done, I'm a little relieved we didn't attempt both platforms at once anyway," Runic boss Travis Baldtree.
The studio even goes into a full explanation of what has changed to the Torchlight gameplay with this . The PC version plays like Blizzard's Diablo and fans are naturally concerned about its experience being watered-down.
"Control is direct - no virtual cursors ever," began Baldtree. "No skills have been omitted. Some skills have had alterations to their functionality to make them feel better", he continued. It's a meaty post on the so go check it out.
"Pretty much everything from the PC version is here. We didn't remove any features, with the exception of secondary weapon sets, because there was no way we could find that didn't feel horrible in inventory management," he said.
"Socketing, enchanting, fishing, the infinite dungeon, item combination, are all represented." Torchlight avoids huge file sizes thanks to its random dungeons. Runic is very busy working the RPG magic on Torchlight 2.
