Microsoft: "No intention of abandoning" original Xbox 360 crowd

Kinect is on fire having sold 8 million units within 60 days shattering Microsoft's own optimistic prediction of clearing 5 million by the end of 2010.

However they aren't taking the Xbox 360's 'founding audience' for granted. They're "very aware of the key role" they play it getting the console where it is.

"Obviously we're very excited by the success of Kinect," said Microsoft's David Dennis at CES 2011. "But we have no intention of abandoning the Xbox 360 audience that bought in originally." There are 'core-focused' titles in development we don't know of yet.

"We're very aware of the key role the enthusiastic core audience played in making the Xbox 360 what it is, and we'll continue to support and develop (titles) like Halo and Gears of War." Xbox 360 has now sold over 50 million console units worldwide.

Microsoft has some big things planned for Xbox Live too. "A lot of the improvements we've made to Xbox Live over the last year have been behind the scenes -- a lot of work went into making sure Xbox Live was ready for the release of Halo: Reach and Call of Duty: Black Ops," continued PR executive Dennis.

"But we're very aware of the kinds of improvements Live users want to see, and we'll continue to work on developing the service." The biggest user priority right now? He says it's "the friends list issue, which, you know, only affects a certain percentage of users, but clearly it's very important to them." Have you picked up Kinect, videogamer?

What a pretty small lies:
1. They sold 8m kinects but to shops.
2. They sold (again to shops) 50m consoles but how many still working?
3. Lets think that true is 1 and 2. 50-8 = 42. So abbadon 42m users for 8m users? Go microsoft. Maybe in 2012 you will not exist.

Microsoft sold over 5M units to consumers. They emptied their entire stock (8M).

And somehow, I doubt Kinect will interfere with games like Gears of War 3 ;)
