S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 details revealed

Developer GSC Game World has posted a question and answer on Facebook about their upcoming sequel, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, revealing a lot of new info about the open world first person shooter.

The most obvious news, of course, is the new engine that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will employ; the original engine was rough and had issues with various OS's and processors.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will support DX11 as well. Since the game is being developed on the PC and ported to consoles, PC gamers can breathe easy that they don't have to worry about a watered-down product; the Q&A goes out of its way to assure gamers that the interface, graphics and gameplay of the PC version won't be compromised by its being ported to console systems.

The other major tidbit of info given is that the game will be set in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2.

Let us know if you're excited for this game.

Previous games were leaching on the same concept, unbalanced gameplay, poor storyline and incredibly BAD engine with soooo many bugs.

Please, do it right this time.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games had their problems, but there are some great ideas there and they can be fun if you overlook some flaws. I hope developers learned something from previous experience... new engine needs to really bring some changes. Releasing games full of bugs can't be good for business.

Prypiat didn't have many bugs IMO, I also recently replayed SOC and I didn't have any major problems. I'm excited.

SOC is well done, bugs are fixed, some by official patch some by community. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete series is strongly recommended.
Wowerine, why do you think game was unbalanced? IMO it is fine, but in CS I agree there were some problems with balance.
Bug are, unfortunately, main part of every STALKER game, but they get fixed in due time :)
I wonder how new engine looks like, and how much game concept is changed... well, two years of waiting starts now XD

Played through COP again recently, I really can't wait to see how the sequel's story unfolds. 2012 feels a long way away.

Played the first after STEAM sale, tried a few high res patches and modding but never liked it. Installed Pripyat - but didn't like that much either. Don't have high hopes for this one, but still - any game that comes to PC first could turn out to be worthy of keeping an eye out for!

I've played Shadow of Chernobyl and I loved it! The only BIG problem for me was the lack of Fast travel option (like in Fallout or Oblivion for example). The world was rather big and regions were scattered, and I had to walk across the whole map just to get an item and carry it all the way back. Maybe there was some mod (or patch) later that fixed this issue, but I've played through STALKER as soon as it came out. I didn't bother to check for updates later.
