Russian-based GFI were granted a one-time use of the Cannon Fodder license by Codemasters they reveal, to release in Russia and CIS only.

The publisher notes that "GFI's plans" for distribution outside Russia and the CIS have "yet to be announced." Cannon Fodder creator Jon Hare not involved.

"In 2008 Codemasters licensed the Cannon Fodder IP to GFI for a one-title project," stated Codemasters. Cannon Fodder 3 has the player face off against a mighty military alliance between Europe, Africa and Asia. It's got "cartoon violence" and space combat?

"Under the agreement, GFI is designing and developing a new game based on the series for release in Russia and the CIS territories. Codemasters understands that GFI's plans for distribution and release outside of Russia and the CIS have yet to be announced."

"Clarification on agreement with GFI re: Cannon Fodder title announced today, GFI licensed the IP for a one-off game in Russia/CIF," twittered Codemasters' Rich Eddy. Looks like it's heading to Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States only.
