It's only been fourteen years since its announcement, but Duke Nukem Forever will be on store shelves on May 3, 2011.

The information was revealed in the latest issue of Game Informer. "The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here," said Christoph Hartmann, president of publisher 2K. "May 3, 2011 marks Duke's return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!"

It's be released for the PC (1997: Win98 hadn't been released yet), Xbox 360 (1997: The Xbox 1 was still 4 years away) and PlayStation 3 (1997: The PS One was still 3 years away.)

A demo would be nice a month or two before release. :D

They already have the PAX East demo. Maybe they'll release that.

Let's hope so. I just hope that all these years of waiting are worth it.

So? The Build engine was dated in 1996 for Duke Nukem 3D.

They could have improved the gfx considering that it's 2011 now. SC2 was in development for a long time too yet they still improved the gfx and it looks very good for being an rts.

Yes but constant updates not only cost money (which is strangly important to gaming industrialists :D), also takes time, so ether play now as it is, or wait for it in the year 2146...

You gotta be joking! Is this for real? I think that meteorites will fall tomorrow.
"After 12 F***ing years it should be" = EPIC!

Except it's 14 years. They had the 90% build for the last 2 1/2 years :D

Looks exactly the way I expected it to, over the top and freakin' Crazy! Probably won't win any Game of the Year award, but i think it's still gonna be a blast!

As it will be multiplatform, I'll wait and see on this one as there have been too many poor PC ports over the past 2 years ("BiA: HH", "FEAR 2", "AVP"). "Fallout 3" and "CoD: MW" were different in that each platform looked and performed a little differently but they are more the exceptions than the rule. Besides "CoD:MW 2" ruined all that.
Could be a blast, as you say Revan. Could be a dull 'thud'...time will tell.

It could be the return of a legend, the rise of the fallen hero, about damn time.

Thats the standard edition the collectors edition will cost about $999.99, after all it has 14/12 years of hard work in it.

I'm in. I love this series and the tacky sense of humor and lack of caring what others think it should be.

They'll blow it, you just wait. I am the big Devil's Advocate on this one as I've been a Duke fan from the first. I foresee "AVP" stamped all over this.

If it turns out to be good or bad it doesn't make a difference.Anything is better than Duke staying as vaporware forever.

I don't think it will be bad, I just don't think it will have been worth the 14 year wait.

Geabox are good? Once I would have agreed but after ":BiA: Hell's Highway" - forget it.

Hah, people sometimes make bad games Hero :P Doesn't nullify any past acheivements. Besides, isn't Borderlands supposed to be alright?

Well in any case we shall see what's Duke going to be like. I personally hope that it's going to be a major success but we won't know until we try it.

@JustCommunication
That's right JC. Borderlands was a major success and is one of the best games today. :D
