PS3 3.56 firmware update now live

Sony has released the 3.56 firmware update for the PlayStation 3, which will effectively invalidate homebrew software and combat piracy.

That seems to be the sole function of the firmware update - odds are with the current rootkey exploit, hackers will probably make short work of the patch.

Not really that great. Downloading those darn updates takes way too freakin long! They should just make a patch that uploads a virus to anyone who tries to hack it again.

Wow, so now I hagve to UPDATE again for no gain for me? That's it - I will seriously consider selling my damn PS3 and get an ordinary Blueray player - PS3 is getting seriously annoying with all the updates...

LOL. Long live the piracy combat.
By the way "Revan" that's a little drastic, not that I care since I know walk pridefully the path of Light Side of "The Force".

New keys have already been discovered within the update and new signed homebrew is coming out /repatched :s
This means updates won't make a difference, root keys will prevail as long as Ps3 is used.

Just deal with it SONY - pirates excist but don't piss us off due to them because then you will hunt pirates only 'cause only pirates will enjoy the PS3...
They see a challenge in hacking you and play games without any restrictions - I as a consumer want to play a game without too many restrictions but I DEMAND it to be consumer friendly or I tell you to go and *TOO HYPE AND ANGRY FOR EVEN... just grrrrr *
