The Witcher 2 "designed with console in mind" says CD Projekt

For console owners worrying what CD Projekt RED's The Witcher 2 is going to run like, fear not, because it's been geared up with "console in mind".

Its user interface is friendly to the console crowd, meaning you can play with joypads on the PC version. The sequel doesn't punish newcomers to the IP.

"In the end we decided not to do it outsourced. We've been running some tests, and putting a small part of the game just to make sure we're not cheating anyone," said CD Projekt, referring to the console versions of The Witcher 2.

"You can play The Witcher 2 with joypad - it's implemented. The whole interface is designed with console in mind, in fact." That good news for those who enjoy Two Worlds II style of controller pad antics over keyboard and mouse - some just play better that way.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings releases on PC May 17th, and on Xbox 360 and PS3 at a later date. Are you looking forward to the return of Geralt the White Wolf?

Drack! Oh well, this is the way PC games are leaning now, with the Total War, Supreme Commander, Commander & Conquer and Civlization franchises all doing the same. Streamlining the games isn't such a bad thing, IMO just as long as AI and Research/Skills paths aren't 'dumbed-down'.

Designed with consoles in mind eh? Nice that you 'can' play with a joypad - but it is also nice to know that I didn't pre-ordered it and can now wait and see just how much in mind it is and how much for PC it is...

PC and Consoles as we know them will be things of the past (and fairly quickly). What's on the drawing boards is a cenralised communication centre in everyone's home (looks like a coffe table) where the counter is actually a touch screen. Through this we will access phone, television, internet...you name it via remote devices (hence the early experiments with iPad and the like). Sounds like Science Fiction, but it's already well into the planning stages.

I still believe that games has to be experienced in somewhat comfortable manner and also many games are not just casual gaming. If tablegames, casual games and such are the only versions in the future - then I will skip it all together and focus on other things - like trying to find some people into good ol' RPG's and dice rolling fans and of course - excersize more ;)
