Dragon Age II DLC to keep Hawke "consistent and progressing"

BioWare have learnt lessons from their DLC for Dragon Age: Origins and the "key request" they received has been to keep focus on the main character.

They pledge they will "keep the focus on Hawke this time around", hopefully signalling that the DLC will be completely integrated with no offshoots.

"We will be continuing to release content for Dragon Age II after launch, and I feel that we've learned some valuable lessons about what resonates with the players," said Dragon Age 2's lead designer, Mike Laidlaw in an interview.

"For instance, we intend to keep the focus on Hawke this time around; keeping your character consistent and progressing was a pretty key request we received from our player base, so we're happy to deliver!"

Initial DLC for Dragon Age: Origins was compatible with the main campaign and expanded the overall journey but later additions, such as Leliana's Song, was kept entirely apart and had to be launched separately.

BioWare avoided this with Mass Effect 2 keeping it all about Shepard, and it seems the team has realised just how much their fans enjoyed this approach. Dragon Age II releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC March 5th in the US, and on the 8th in Europe.

Whilst those off-shoot DLC's were nice in their own way.. I do agree that DLC focusing around the player character's progression through the story is preferable.

Considering the qulaity of the DLC's so far - stop that crap and put effort in making the game and then go back to releasing expansions! Baldurs Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal, weren't DA supposed to be in the "spirit of BG series" or were that just the usual BioWare sales crap? (Fans, BioWare games are good - mostly - but there sales talk is crap!)
