JoWooD has announced the launch of Painkiller: Redemption, the next chapter in the long-running first person shooter series. Originally a mod for Painkiller, the game is being released as a digital download from most major download platforms like Steam.

According to the presser: The player will continue the story of Daniel and Belial as they joined forces for the first time to end the bloody conflict between heaven and hell. You will discover all new maps, fight off literally thousands of demonic fiends, and lose yourself in the intense gameplay rounded off with an absorbing heavy metal soundtrack.

While the game is a run-and-gun shooter, like most Painkiller games, it'll also have a new tactical component in the form of Tarot Cards, which are unlocked for completing levels and can be equipped for bonus abilities.

Some of the bullet points:

* 7 to 10 hours of playtime
* Updated graphics
* Over 6000 enemies, more than any previous PK game!
* Up to 1000 monsters per map
* Two player co-op – play the characters Belial and Daniel
* Improved AI

Let us know if you'll be picking this one up.
