Rockstar San Diego's thrilling open world Western game Red Dead Redemption has hit over 8M units sold, according to Take 2's financial report.

Red Dead Redemption went on sale last May and enjoyed both critical and commercial success, and earned itself a number of yearly awards, and led other Take 2 games in leading the company to huge profits over the last nine months of calendar 2010, alongside other popular titles in 2010 including NBA 2K11, Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, and Sid Meier’s Civilization V.

According to Take Two's financial report: For the nine-months ending on December 31, net revenue increased 80 percent year-over-year to $954.6 million. Non-GAAP income from continuing operations increased to $108.8 million, compared to a loss of $67.5 million for the year-ago period.

Not all is well, however. Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take Two reported, “We have no update on Max Payne 3 at this time.”

Maybe they could use that capital to make a PC port...

Even though I have it on Xbox, I'm still hoping they'll release it on PC at some point. So much so, that I haven't bothered completing the campaign, or even played the game in months.
