The Gothic series have tended to do favourably well here in Europe but fallen prey to indifference in North America, so with a new developer at the helm they changed the name.
They're even going to cater two versions based on 'preferred' colour palettes either side of the Atlantic, bright and gritty. These palette preferences were worked out by DreamCatcher who noticed that American gamers seem to favour more bright and colourful environments - must be something to do with all that liberty they get over there? We war-torn Europeans who love a good scrap every few decades apparently like a gritty and mute atmosphere, to best quench our gaming addiction. Gothic 3 was heavily criticized for numerous flaws and game-stopping bugs but there's a new found optimism within the Gothic community that this latest adventure for the Nameless Hero will help revive some of the lost gameplay gems. Spellbound Entertainment has taken over the series from its creator Piranha Bytes, who had a rather big falling out with publisher JoWood. | |

Gothic 3 is at budget price gere now it garnered so many hostile reviews from players. The series really isn't popular over here, and I don't think renaming the game will change that. |

What exactly is this game about? I never heard of it before. Looks interesting. |
