Lionhead's next project to be a "significant scientific achievement"

Peter Molyneux, the man behind cult classics Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper, Populous and the more recent Black & White, Fable, has said his next creation will be "regarded as a major scientific breakthrough".

The project known as 'Dimitri' will be the culmination of in-depth AI research - what game we can expect is anyone's guess.

"My next game will not be Fable 3. It's not a game I can talk to you about right now, but: AI, simulation, the way characters interact -- we've had smart people working on that stuff for over a decade with the Fable games and Black and White," said Molyneux to Wired.

This new creation will be the result of most if not all his previous works linked to advanced AI; Molyneux confirmed his next game isn't going to be Fable 3. What sort of game could use such a highly interactive and aware populace?

It's unlikely Black & White will be making a comeback this soon so could Lionhead be gearing up to release some kind of cross between Spore and SimCity, or will grandiose Peter Molyneux throw a spanner into the conventional and dream up something new and crazy?

Before we all start preparing ourselves for a war with machines with a taste for human blood, let’s focus on his upcoming Fable 2 - due out this winter exclusively on Xbox360.

avatar PC gaming is at its end, many said, because of piracy. If u ask me, console games arent that safe either. Fable 2 for PC!
By Wowerine on May 21, 2008
avatar Right! Piracy is something that keeps PC gamers existing... If it wasn't for that, what will gaming be in the places like: Russia, Bosnia, Serbia...

avatar PC gaming is far from dead. It's just sitting patiently, upgrading all the time, ready for the next big titles to explode onto the shelves that'll leave consolers weeping. This, though won't be one of them.

avatar It all started with PC and it all ends with PC. PC- tha ultimate gaming console will always have more potential for new adventures...

avatar PC is the best, but if a company will make lot more money by creating a console game, then we got something to worry about. Since companies will go where more money is, and there are no doubts about it.

We'll need to learn to make games ourselves!

avatar Nah, I think the Industry is going through a transition. The amount of Hardware available and under development for the PC is staggering compared to last year, while console sits still, with no real upgrades at all.
By Revan006 on May 21, 2008
avatar But thats just it though! Thats why so many people don't want to get into PC gaming! It's like you just buy a new PC game, you put it into your computer, and as it's installing BAM! A message pops up telling you to "upgrade" something ...

avatar You're right for upgrades, though lately there haven't been too great pushes worth purchasing.

But consoles don't have a keyboard, or a mouse, which PC has. So PC has all the options that consoles don't. You can't just have a console. ...

avatar Than, why do they keep making all those powerful GPUs, if no one is gonna use them (at least 90% of the "meant to be used at home" PC hardware is used in gaming!)...

I couldn't imagine playing a RTS game on the gamepad, could you?
