'Star Wars Detours' trademarked

LucasFilm has trademarked 'Detours' for use with Star Wars, which gives them ownership of the name for interactive entertainment products, aka videogames.

There's another filing though which suggests it could explode as a franchise, or at least expand into merchandising. LucasArts has a Star Wars Kinect game.

The first filing with the USPTO covers Detours in regard to "pre-recorded audio tapes, video tapes, CD-ROMs, DVDs, compact discs, and video discs", but also specifically mentions videogames and its digital counterparts like DLC.

Below are the two registered United States Patent and Trademark Office trademarks from LucasFilm, the parent company of LucasArts. Currently they're developing a Star Wars Kinect title for release later this year - is that Detour related?

Whenever I see the name 'Star Wars' my attention is immediately grabbed, however.. I have very little interest in Kinect. I appreciate it as a cool piece of technology, but personally I have no desire to own it, or play any of the games currently on offer.

@Jake - I totally agree, Star Wars gets my attention but I really have no interest in Kinect other than agreeing that it is cool tech

Kinect, like Move is a passing fad on the journey to fully interractive games. Pay it no mind.

As a side note, "Star Wars" nearly wasn't completed as Lucas hates directing, and suffering from diabetes wanted to pull out half way through filming. Spielberg was the only fellow director who egged him on to finish and the only one who believed it would be a hit. Other friends like Scorsese, Coppola, Corman and Peckinpah predicted a disaster.
