Rumour: Far Cry 3 "could be arriving" this year says magazine

The latest issue of OPM has Ubisoft's Far Cry 3, a game yet to be announced, as possibly releasing "before the end of the year." It was 'expected' in 2010.

At least that's what two retailer listings had said before getting pulled. Development was in "full swing" as of last August said PC Gamer. An E3 reveal?

If Far Cry is indeed returning this year than E3 2011 seems to be the best time to blow it wide open. The last instalment took place in Africa and was open-world with bullet wounds doing a real number on our mercenary, assigned to take out an arms dealer.

Do you have high hopes for Ubisoft's Far Cry 3? Will it be mod friendly this time?

I hope Far Cry 3 takes us on exotic islands this time since I'm fed up with Africa.

No hopes for Far Cry 3 - Far Cry 2 was pure **** IMO - bad graphic engine that wouldn't allow for a DX 10 experience, badly optimized guey and the gameplay was really repetetive and boring in the way they tried to make GT-Africa...
The activation **** was something that kept me away from it - but I got it with my graphics card - which couldn't let it run in DX10 - way to go... So no, no hopes for a constant online SP experience in Ubi style...

Yea, I'm of the same viewpoint as you djole381. Far Cry 2, whilst a relatively impressive game, didn't really do much for me simply because I didn't like the setting. Hopefully they've come up with somewhere a little different this time, but either way.. I'm certainly interested to know more!

Far Cry 1 was good, Far Cry 2 was a ****, Far Cry 3 will be ???, but if it is the same as the second don't do anything at all.

I might be stoned here, but I liked Far Cry 2 much more than FC1. I hope the third one will be open world too, only this time set in a non-imaginary conflict in a non-imaginary country. I liked Africa.

I liked Far Cry 2 more than Far Cry, but what bothered me was endless driving to reach mission destinations and repairing those damn vehicles. Game world was awesome but I prefer the tropics instead of Africa.

Dont care, I dont dig this open-world kind of games, specially when I have to spend half an hour driving from point A to point B.

Language fellas.
"FC 2" - played it for ten hours, then shelved it for life. Ultimnately a very repetitious and grindy game (much like a MMO in that regard). MP was different and a bit of fun, but ultimately a very big missed opportunity by Ubi, something they do well.
No hopes for "FC 3".

people don't seem to like Africa scenery so maybe 'cos it's bit too much reddish/brown in colour..boring perhaps!!

I really can't say I have hopes for FC3 either considering how boring FC2 was and that FC3 will use the very same albeit upgraded engine.

No hope for Far Cry 3 right now, when it gets out I will check it.
