Diablo III devs love Torchlight

The Blizzard developers working on Diablo III enjoy playing Torchlight, and are looking forward to Torchlight II, reports Eurogamer. The team doesn’t feel threatened by the game – not from a “we’re too big to care” standpoint, but from the standpoint that they enjoy playing it and get inspired to make Diablo III better from it. It doesn’t hurt Torchlight was developed by the original Diablo team.

Diablo III art director Christian Lichtner added Borderlands to the mix as well when discussing Torchlight, “We play those and we generally love them. Torchlight – we love it, we play it a lot. I’d say Borderlands is inspired a little by Diablo – we love Borderlands… It’s always great. We love (Torchlight), we talk about (Torchlight), we scrutinise them from a gameplay standpoint to see what we can learn, to see what they’ve improved on. It’s all good as far as we’re concerned.”

Let us know if you’re a Torchlight fan, and if you’re looking forward to the sequel, which will finally bring in some co-op play.

As they should. No nonsense, graphically pleasing game at a low price. Of course Blizz won't feel threatened by it, as "Torchlight II" will sit happily alongside "Diablo III" on the hard drives of many gamers. I can't help feeling it will steal a bit of their unique thunder, though.

Torchlight is quite good, bought recently for 10£, but to me Diablo is still the best, and I'm really looking for Diablo III because Blizzard may take a lot of time to make/finish their games, but when they get out they rock!
