Will Wright has announced at the Game Developers Conference that he's working on his first new game project since Spore, which was released in 2008.

He revealed during his interview that the games that he'll be working on will probably be digital download titles. "For the most part, the stuff we're working on is not shrink-wrapped, AAA, Xbox-only. It's stuff that's a little more diffuse, mobile, web," he explained. "I'm really interested right now in games that get people more engaged in the world around them rather than distract them from it. Using the world as a human platform rather than an Xbox. Kind of AR stuff."

Wright has also been working on a user-generated television concept at his studio StupidFunClub. "(We're) trying to move gaming out into the wider world – toys, the web, stuff like that," he stated.

Future of gaming for the present anyway. The rate things are moving ahead, this is just the very beginning. Soon we might all just jump on in and play ourselves, ala "Tron".

If people died in real life when they died in games that would be fun indeed.

Better still, if you believe you truly are alive in a game, then death would bring you back to reality...but whose reality???
