Microsoft planning next console? (UPDATE)

Microsoft may be working on the next generation of the Xbox, as some Linkedin classified ads have popped up looking to hire some hardware engineers.

UPDATE: Microsoft has issued an official statement that they're "always looking" for new Xbox talent, and have 'nothing else to add'.

"We're always looking for talented people to join the Xbox team and help us to innovate Xbox 360. We don’t have any further comment on this or any other job posting," a Microsoft representative told Strategy Informer.

ORIGINAL: One ad states: The Xbox Console Architecture team is hiring for a Graphics hardware architect position.

The team is responsible for defining and delivering next generation console architectures from conception through implementation.

The responsibilities include architecture analysis, key technology selection, architecture specification, communication and collaboration with extended Microsoft teams and partner companies. The ideal candidate should have a broad background in 3D graphics rendering architectures and algorithms (ideally with gaming applications in mind), 3D software pipelines, and physics..

Another ad: Senior Architect and Performance Engineer in XBOX Console Architecture Group.

Our group is involved in product definition from early evaluation all the way through high volume manufacturing. The main focus of this position is on performance evaluation and modeling. However, involvement in all aspects of product development regularly occurs. We are looking for someone who is flexible, and wants to be involved with various stages of the product life cycle. During different stages of the product life cycle responsibilities will vary.

It makes sense that Microsoft would begin their planning for the Xbox 720 now, since the first ad basically states that it's in conceptual stage, but it's still exciting to hear. Sources at Sony had stated that the PlayStation 4 had been put on the back burner to focus on the NGP.

This is probably only at the early stages for now. It'll be sometime before we see another console.

Maybe it'll come with a RRoD again! Woohoo!
Oh well, at least I got to play 58 games on my 360 it before it RRoD'ed.
My PS3 also died a few months later. Which happened while I was playing CoD:Crap Ops. I played a total of 72 games on that PS3.
So i guess the quality on Sony's products is about 0.3% better than Micro$cams.

Finnally. I was wondering when the 720 would be started on. Still it is quite a few years off, about maybe 3. Of course that's an inaccurate guess.

I hope that Cevat Yerli is right when he believes the new console generation comes in 2012/2013, that would be very good for the gaming world since the current outdated hardware on the ps3 and 360 is holding games back. :/

No. If the console is in conceptual stage, don't expect it til 2014.

Finally, now we can move forward with games on the PC. They better engineer the consoles for the future this time. To me when the PS3 and 360 where designed it seemed they were designed for that time period. After all claiming it will run full 1080P but in reality it has to upscale to an extreme. Yea the games back then it would run, not todays. So maybe they should think more.

@ JonahFalcon. That's just what I said. Some where I read about the 720 and the release date given was in 2014.

"Microsoft has issued an official statement that they're "always looking" for new Xbox talent, and have 'nothing else to add'."

Nice non-answer, Microsoft. When you talk about creating console hardware "rom conception through implementation", you're talking about a new system.
