This film reboot to Tomb Raider is expected out in 2013. GK Films want to explore a "young and dynamic" Lara Croft, with speculation high on an origins story. In fact that would tie in quite nicely with Eidos' upcoming new Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics who are exploring Lara Croft's roots as a young and inexperienced raider of tombs as she gets shipwrecked, forced to adapt and survive on an island. Angelina Jolie was the star of the previous two Tomb Raider films, which grossed $432 million worldwide. GK Films' King Headington was involved with The Tourist which starred Jolie alongside Johnny Depp, which fuelled rumours she would return. However no actor, writer or director is yet attached and GK Films and Square Enix are likely very keen to break from the past mould of the Tomb Raider films. Source: Hollywood Reporter | |
