The PC version of Fable III has finally been given a release date and Lionhead Studios are also adding in some extras, namely an overhauled control scheme.
They're also including an optional difficulty adjustment, the first ever for a Fable game. PC is "a different market" from console and some want 'more challenge'.
"One thing we've done is we've added difficulty levels - it's the first time we've done that in any Fable game," said Josh Atkins of developer Lionhead. The PC version also includes a first-person viewpoint for our Albion heir to the throne.
"Fable's always been designed to be finishable by anyone... but with Fable III PC we looked at what we'd done, decided we were happy with it, but we did get some feedback from people saying it was too easy."
"When we came to the PC we decided it's a different market, you're going to have some hardcore gamers on PC... let's give them a choice to make it a little more challenging." It's unclear if another much sort after change will be included - a 'repair all' button for player owned houses. Currently you need to visit each individually for repairs.
"I think the joy of working at Lionhead is that anything is possible but we have no official plans as of today, in this room right now... but anything is possible," added Atkins, asked if these PC features could be patched into the Xbox 360 version later.
Fable III releases on PC May 17th in the US, and on the 20th in Europe.
