Minecraft launching November 11

It looks like Markus "Notch" Persson will be pitting Minecraft against The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as the building MMO will be officially releasing on November 11, 2011 - 11/11/11.

According to Joystiq, Persson notes that the "full version" of the game won't differ significantly from its current beta. Which means there won't be a real release - after all, 1.8M users have paid $33M USD already to play the beta - but just a removal of the "beta" tag.

Persson adds that the development team will continue to update the game with new features after the official release.

11/11/11 will be a busy day... Anyway, I'm happy that it will finally see a final release, it felt kind of unstable after having different betas every month. It is advisable to get it now as with the final release, the price will surely go up. This is not a game to miss.

Minecraft kicks ass, but I personally think Skyrim will still have the upper hand in sales due to the pixelated graphics in Minecraft that make the game look less desirable than it actually is.

Never tried Minecraft - never really understood the lure of it and seeing game-play videos doesn't really help either... Good to see though that the game will finally be out. It has certainly put the AAA titles on their heads ;)
