Rumour: Dragon Age 3 underway, BioWare includes multiplayer
Posted: 11.04.2011 13:53 by Simon Priest Comments: 32
According to the Official PlayStation Magazine's whisper column, BioWare is not only getting full swing into Dragon Age 3's development but it's got multiplayer.

BioWare want to explore more of the Dragon Age universe no doubt, but multiplayer sounds a little iffy. They're yet to decide how it can go into Mass Effect after all.

"More elf sexy time! Dragon Age 3 is on the way, with an added multiplayer component," writes the latest issue of OPM. Dragon Age II managed to clear 1 million sales within its first two weeks on sale. BioWare rewarded fans with free Mass Effect 2 codes.

What kind of multiplayer would you like to see in Dragon Age 3? Perhaps they've got some kind of co-op planned or some more traditional PvP style multiplayer?

Yeah if they mean multiplayer will be some sort of co-op experience I think that would be a marvellous idea.

I'm not sure how a straight multiplayer component (aside from co-op) would really add to the game. People don't play DA for multiplayer, they play it for an in depth story.

Hopefully they have a longer development cycle for DA3 and it doesn't feel like a useless tacked on feature.

Always thought of "DA 2" as more "DA:O" 1.5, so this might just be the true sequel.

The first kept me on my pc for almost 3 days straight! Doing every sidequest took me nearly 60 hours on the first runthrough! Dragon age 2 was very disappointing. I don't think I will get the third.

Safer than a new IP, less costs and guaranteed sales.

Usually worse games as well, but they don't care about that.

I don't want multiplayer in Dragon Age 3 - I want a system that actually works with DRM and DLC. I want a game where the stupid DRM always authenticate actually starts the service of its own. I would like a way to play the game without having to be spammed by Facebook trinkets and crap all the time.

Most likely I will get this to see the end - but buying DLC's etc for Bioware games is a big no no for me. And the reward?
What reward? I already owned DA O, ME, ME2 before DA2. A shameless campaign to get new players hooked - nothing to award their "fans" their fans mostly have all the games already.

Multiplayer in an RPG like Dragon Age? Unless DA:3 will be an MMO, I think this is wrong intel. If there were co-op, then the game would have to suck in terms of the impact choices in DA:O and DA:2 would have on the story.

DA 3 has already been announced? Seeing that DA 2 was such a big disappointment, I'm not really sure how the fans will react this time. :-S

Many see "DA 2" as a 'filler' between the first and third installments. I'll buy it and play it, perhaps, when it's rock-bottom price. Then again the dungeon crawling does put me off.

Dude, I wish DA stories were like those "You Choose" books I used to read as a kid. You could make a ton of choices, and each led to a different ending, with different middle parts also. Most of the endings would end up with the reader dead! It really took some work to make the right decisions and make it through alive with a happy ending. I would read those books time and time again, because of the variety involved. I wish DA was like that - instead we get a one size fits all ending no matter what you do.

Maybe we will see this in the Witcher 2.

Maybe. Witcher is, generally, a better game than this one. Let's hope that Witcher 2 will be even better. :-)

I'll probably buy DA 2 when it's price goes really, really down. ;-)

The witcher 2 looks amazing, unless Mass Effect 3 comes out this year, I bet it will be my RPG of the year.

The Witcher 2 will be, alongside Deus EX, my hopes for RPG's until the next TES game.

i feel a multiplayer co-op mode in dragon age 3 would be a great idea but i think bioware should create an in depth story for the multiplayer seperate from the single player also if you are a mage fan (like myself) i think the spells when upgraded should have better visuals such as the spell firestorm from dragon age 2 was misleading in the visual area i read the description and thought of the upgrade being like a flaming hurricane and was very dissapointed when i saw it was exactly the same....

I feel DA3 should have a multiplayer co-op with a seperate storyline to the single player that both have an in depth story. I would also like more interesting visuals e.g. if a spell is called firestorm i want my flaming storm/flaming hurricane. I would also like cross class specializations e.g. a mage could be holding a blade and then his palm cathes fire, he runs it up the blade and it catches fire, the character then slashes through air and then a dragon head made of fire encases an area in fire, dissapears and all thats left is ash
