Jade Empire 2 was in development for PC, 360, PS3

LinkedIn has betrayed many secrets of the videogame industry, sometimes to reveal Assassin's Creed 3 or some other hush-hush game is in development, and sometimes to show games that had been started then aborted.

Fans of the martial arts RPG from Bioware, Jade Empire, will tear their hair out finding out that Jade Empire 2 had started development in 2006 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as the LinkedIn resume of former BioWare designer Rafael Jabulani Brown.

One has to wonder what caused Bioware to abort development of Jade Empire 2. Possibly their attentions were pulled from the project by Microsoft commissioning Mass Effect? Someday we'll find out.

It's too bad Gun 2 was never released, too. It was a nice proto-Red Dead Redemption game.

Such a shame Jade Empire 2 was never released. Jade Empire was such a refreshment. I do hope they resume the development of JE2 someday.

Man thats too bad. I really liked Jade Empire. :(
Guess theres only so much games you can work on at a time before you have to stop, and decide which one is more important. I'm guessing Mass Effect was the more important one.
But I'm wondering if might have gotten canceled because of SW: KotOR? Hmmm....

Mass Effect wasn't more "important". Microsoft was paying for the first one.

Never know, it may be picked up after Mass Effect 3 is done. They just needs to see how many people still want it.

Wow! I wasn't even aware that they were in the process of making the second installment. It's a shame they stopped it, because the first one was fantastic. I really liked it and didn't find any segment of the game boring. I couldn't make a pause while playing. It's a real shame. :-)

LOL, it was the only one released here in Sweden at the time I decided to dish out some money mostly to support PC gaming. I might auction it, don't think I will play it. I also have Medieval Total war in plastic wrap as well as Thief 3... Never opened them :S

Well, lets say that I have too many games and some games I get just because I think I want them - and then I found them lying around never installed them or anything and well - the want to play is bigger then the time to play and the games I tend to play together with time outnumbers the want part in some cases. Jade Empire looked so much like a console clone and Thief 3 as well and I couldn't make up my mind at the time if I regretted buying them or not.
Today I know however ;)

It kinda isn't as much luck as it gives me a bad conscious... I started the "active decision" process for myself to make more of my gaming - and also with the rest of my life... Seems to have helped a big at least.

LOL - active decision is so simple bbut catching me on my smartphone isn't simple. i type to little to explain ;) Short version: decide between actually putting an effort into a game or skip it. Homefront is an excellent example: game sucks - should I stick with it or not? Not wait and see and try it, take a decision early on - stick with it or skip it. I skipped it. Simple active decision and saves me time to play another game. Same With BLOPS I have now reached my goal: 80+ hours and Elite level - BLOPS done for me.

Sorry for going OT there and being very vague about things ;)
Back to Jade Empire - no decision just pure neglect has kept that tin package unwrapped...

I totally understand you, Wolf, but if you enjoy playing a game, that's pretty much all that matters. ;-)

The first Jade Empire was such a great game. I really don't understand why JE2 was never released. But it's better not to release a game at all if it's a bad sequel. I don't like getting disappointed.
