F.E.A.R. 3 began before F.E.A.R. 2 finished, "great fit" with Day 1

Day 1 Studios was already deep in F.E.A.R. before the second game from original developer Monolith Studios had finished. They needed "that additional time".

In our interview Ernest Zamora Jr of Day 1 reveals it was "a great fit" given their history with Monolith, Warner Bros and F.E.A.R.'s "key tenants" of gameplay.

We asked what the story behind Monolith passing the torch of F.E.A.R. over to Day 1 Studios was, and Ernest Zamora Jr reveals it happened sooner than you might think.

"The simplest answer is that F.E.A.R. 3 was already in development before F.E.A.R. 2 finished. The reason for that was so we could truly give it the time to implement all these innovative features we had planned," he said.

"In order to bring co-op to the franchise as well as these unique multiplayer modes we felt we needed that additional time so we started the project early." F.E.A.R. 3 supports co-op play with Alma's two 'kids' as the players; Point Man and Paxton Fettel.

"In addition to that we had lots of folks from Warner Bros working hand-in-hand with Day 1 in various stages of development. Day 1 worked on the console ports of F.E.A.R. 1 so they were very familiar with Monolith folks and the key tenants of F.E.A.R.; the frenetic combat, the horror, and so it just was a great fit."

F.E.A.R. 3 releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC May 24th in the US, the 26th in the UK. Check out our F.E.A.R.-full (word play!) interview with Day 1 Studios' Ernest Zamora Jr.

Didn't see anything in there remotely innovative (Co-Op? Gimme a break). As for the MP, they'll never beat the intensity and insanity of the original's MP component. With a strong console background, Dev 1 will obviously be focusing on that audience for "FEAR 3" and PC gamers will get another poor man's port.

That is the risk - however as we seen in later videos, it is DEMO time! ;) Or at least we can hope for a demo - that alone can speak volumes of how good the PC version will be...

The 1st installment of F.E.A.R. brought so much innovative and a great story. The 2nd was not so good, but it seems like this one will be the worst. They started releasing games only for the sake of making money. All in all, I am very disappointed. Especially since 3 is happening before 2... I hate games like that.
