Square-Enix is making an extraordinary gesture for gamers who preorder Dungeon Siege III on Steam - they will get Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege II free.

"Providing Dungeon Siege I and Dungeon Siege II free of charge through Steamworks is Square Enix's way of showing appreciation to the fans of the Dungeon Siege franchise," said David Hoffman, executive producer for Dungeon Siege III. "Selecting Steamworks to be integrated into the upcoming Dungeon Siege title made perfect sense as we wanted to provide the best possible gameplay experience for PC gamers and long-standing fans of the series."

"Dungeon Siege III is joining a long line-up of Square Enix titles using Steamworks," said Jason Holtman, director of business development for Valve. "Our focus for Steam is on enabling developers to spend time on creating value for our customers, and seeing the Dungeon Siege franchise re-emerge, with its all-new co-op mode and inclusion of Steamworks, is a great example of that."

Steam will definitely be the preorder of choice for the Dungeon Siege fan. Dungeon Siege III will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 21, 2011.

This was a pretty nice gesture on their part - to give 2 great games for free. :-D

It's a very nice gesture.

Though I imagine the majority of people who would pre-order this game would already own the original 2. At least it will give new comers to the series some incentive to pick up the game!

Might be a nice gesture, but it's also the only way to get a hold of the two prequels on Steam. You MUST pre-order "DS III". I'd rather see what issues the game has post-launch than go for the freebies. Been fooled too often this year.

Darn, I thought it was actually free. Silly me.

"No such thing as a free lunch" - and DS 1 is rubbish in my opinion and DS2 never really felt like fun to me. Both games - however you feel for them - might not translate well to wide-screen support nor WIN Vista/7 support. STEAM isn't exactly GOG and make changes to the code to work with modern computers that well. I learned this the hard way getting the old Fallout games on STEAM :S

Better deal on Greee Man Gaming:
"Theatre of War" free with "Theatre of War 3"...if the latter had been an excellent release, it would have been a good deal.

@Hero LOL! Yeah, sometimes it feels more like - buy this and we force some more crap onto your STEAM list so you will loose control and we can show nice statistics...
