Liquid Entertainment's Andrew Rubino stated at a recent press event that Thor: God of Thunder is "not a movie game."

Which is not to say that it's not a movie licensed game that will be released in conjunction with the live action film coming out in a few weeks. Rubino just insists that Thor won't try to recreate the film.

"We're not just playing the movie over again — that's not happening," said Rubino, "We have our storyline written by Matt Fraction. Yes, we share some elements with the movie — obviously, our Thor looks like Chris Hemsworth, we have some voice acting and likenesses — but we tried to do our own thing."

"Our goal was not to make a movie game," insisted Rubino, "our goal was to make a good game."

Thor: God of Thunder will be released on May 3, 2011. Whether it's a good game or not remains to be seen.

Well, movie-game or not, I'm guessing it'll suck either way.

Hm? I will have to agree with you, Revan, on this one. There's nothing catchy about this game. :-(

The statistics say that Thor the game will fail epicly and receive a Metacritic score around 45, still somehow manage to sell enough for greedy corporate guys to continue to push bad movie based games out the door. Only been a few good movie licensed games as far as I know - and most tend to be only decent at that...

So, Liquid are saying they don't have the movie rights or SFX property. Obviouslty someone else has, and it's a toss-up which one will be worse.
