Resident Evil 6 "a complete renovation" for series, says Kawata

Capcom's Resident Evil 5 took the series even further from its original formula of survival horror, but Resident Evil 6 will be a "complete renovation" says boss.

Producer Masachika Kawata adds we "can't forget" all the entries that have "led to the creation" of so many possibilities. Creator says it must "reinvent".

No I don't speak of an all mighty being floating on a cloud when I say 'creator', I was of course referring to the horror zombie loving Shinji Mikami who created Resident Evil. He feels Resident Evil 5 didn't "need to change the series, but Resident Evil 6 will have to reinvent the series with another full model change or else it won't be able to keep on going."

Capcom have similar thoughts as producer Masachika Kawata states: "The series will see a complete renovation with the next entry on every level. But we can't forget about all the previous entries that have led to the creation of many possibilities for the franchise."

Jun Takeuchi said back in 2009 that the next Resi Evil instalment after 5 will be a reboot for the franchise. What are you hoping Capcom will do with Resident Evil 6?

I was really hoping they would go back to good old zombies again! Now I'll actually get it when it comes out. Never really liked RE4 and 5 all that much.

It's good that gaming companies renovate franchises every now and then.
