Bethesda would "like to see" PC Skyrim mods on the consoles

Todd Howard of Bethesda has said they hope it will be possible for the PC mod community to get their hard work onto Xbox 360 and PS3's Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The studio big wig adds that "it works, it's how we made the game." Others have tried getting mods supported for console versions but certification stood in the way.

"We’d like to see it happen, because it works, it’s how we made the game," said Todd Howard. The Bethesda executive has already revealed that Skyrim is "mostly a DirectX 9 game," and that it doesn't fully utilise the new fancy DirectX 11 but could.

The console versions of big RPGs are always disadvantaged to their PC counterparts because of the mod community and their quirky and fun creations. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has a mega tonnage of mods for the PC versions, and some did reach consoles.

They were released 'officially' though by Bethesda who got a few together. Do you think studios and platform holders need to figure out how to support mods?

It would be interesting to see a decent number of mods for Skyrim on the 360 and PS3. I have a huge multi-quest mod planned for Skyrim myself, I might try and get it to work on the 360 myself when it comes to releasing it.

Quite often the Mods are more than just "quirky" or "fun", but can save a game from fading into obscurity. I' like to see ods accessible to the console community, but I just don't see it working for many titles.
Good idea Bethesda, as Mods were the saving grace for "Oblivion" (at least for me), but realistic? I'm not so sure.

Eh I don't know about this... Not all mods maintain the same performance levels of the game... So the 360 and/or PS3 could lag with mods...
