Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millenium
THQ has announced that they have extended their licensing agreement with Games Workshop to keep making games based on the tabletop miniatures RPG/wargame. THQ has produced such licensed games as Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, and will be releasing such games as the MMO Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium and shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine.

Games Workshop is also pleased with the licensing agreement. "The impressive translation of the Warhammer 40,000 universe from the tabletop to the video game space by THQ certainly highlights the potential of our most successful intellectual property in the right hands," beamed Mark Wells, Games Workshop CEO on the renewal.

He continued, "We know that the depth of the storylines, characters and imagery of the Warhammer 40,000 universe positions the IP to excel across many media platforms - and extending our agreement with THQ will help ensure that Warhammer 40,000 maintains a strong and growing presence in the video game space."

Read about this several days ago and is excellent, albeit expected news. As long as Relic stays at the helm of the RTS side, I'm more than happy.

Yeah, as long as they continue on their chosen path - I'm happy - but I would also like something new or something old... I would like to have a more close to the table top game that is turn-based... That would be so lovely I could start getting teary-eyed....

Like the old SSI "Warhammer" games that were TBS....they were great, but perhaps their time has passed.

Like the SSS games - but much better - like if THQ had done them ;) I think that SSI had a more interesting views of the WH40K universe, it wasn't all space marines but more variations of troops and the army building where you in some of the games could storm away with forge world titans was really nice... Also, not to forget - the movies played by actors and CGI ;) awesome! :D
